Along the Mediterranean on Turkey’s southwestern coast is the port city of Bodrum, a yachtsman’s paradise and an increasingly popular tourist destination — visitors flock from all over Europe for a taste of the good life by the sea, and for the city’s notorious nightlife.
At a slight remove from the busy port and the main tourist drag is the exclusive and intimate Ada Hotel, an modern villa built in a traditional style by a local architect. This is high luxury, to be sure, but with an admirable restraint — the fourteen rooms are elegant but never over-the-top, spacious and well-appointed, decorated in a quietly rustic manner.
Here the sense of seclusion is key to the appeal; the feeling is not unlike that of being a house guest of a wealthy friend, and in the Penthouse or the Presidential suite (which share a private pool) you could almost feel like the master of the house.
For the rest of us there’s a slightly less private pool, and the restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine made from local seafood and produce, seating guests al fresco or in the stunning cellar dining room. The hidden jewel of the Ada Hotel, though, is the Turkish bath, rendered in opulent Ottoman style and lit by the soft glow of oil lamps.
How to get there:
Ada Hotel is approximately a 1 hour drive from Milas-Bodrum Airport. Please contact customerservice@tablethotels.com to arrange a transfer.
