The very concept of a Maldives resort is one that’s hard to get wrong; the trick, one supposes, is getting hold of one of these shallow, sandy atoll islands, and after that, the rest is just details. After all, once you’re in your villa, on a pristine white sand beach, or in one of the suites on stilts over the water, it’s the setting that matters most.
So it’s on the execution, the details, that Anantara should be judged. Little things, like the style of the place, grass-roofed on the outside and unpretentious on the inside — spare, clean-lined, but not overly serious or reverent.
Anantara’s approach to luxury, too, is unassuming. This place certainly doesn’t lack for comforts, but nor does it bludgeon you with ostentation the way some of its peers do. Service, likewise, is faultless, but not showy — it would be unfair and a little weird to speculate about whether this has anything to do with Anantara’s Thai ownership and culture, but whatever the reason, friendly hospitality is in plentiful supply.
A largish handful of restaurants comes in handy, since you can’t exactly pop off to town for a bite, and the cooking school is an option if you’d like to take this part of the experience home. Aside from the always-popular option of total idleness, there’s actually plenty to do: the spa, the fitness center, the library, yoga, even a lighted tennis court, not to mention all manner of water sports — again, diving in the Maldives would be difficult to find fault with.

Anantara Dhigu Resort & Spa is a 35 minute ride by private speedboat from Malé International Airport. Please contact customerservice@tablethotels.com to arrange airport transfers.
Kids:
Guests over the age of 12 are considered adults. Some rooms accommodate 3 or more. The "Beach Front Villa most suitable for families" room sleeps up to 4 guests. For crib/cot, must book "All" room or larger. For 2 adults + rollaway bed, must book "All" or larger. For 2 adults + 2 kids beyond crib age, must book "Beach Front Villa" room or larger.
Cribs are available and may be subject to an additional fee. Roll-away beds available and may be subject to an additional fee. Extra charge in addition to crib/roll-away cost id US$8.00
Pool available that allows kids. Babysitting services provided by screened hotel personnel at US$15 per hour. Daycare services provided, kids between the ages of 3 and 11 can be dropped off on a fixed schedule. The restaurant is kid-friendly with high chairs and a kids menu. Room service offers a kids menu.
