It’s not always entirely about getting away from it all. Seminyak is pretty much the heart of the tourist Bali, but it got that way for a reason. And if you can stand a little socializing with your tropical-beach getaway, it’s a rewarding option — even more so considering that it’s now home to a member of the Thai-based group of boutique luxury resorts.

This is a hotel that doesn’t exactly break new ground — but why bother when the current standard is so high? The Anantara comes with everything you’d expect: 80-square-meter suites, decorated in a dark-wood Balinese style, with oversized soaking tubs and surround-sound plasma-screen home theatre systems. Vast self-contained penthouse villa aside, there are essentially just two tiers of accommodations; some suites set close to the water and others set back a bit, and everyone is a short walk from the beach, though, not to mention the two infinity-edge swimming pools.

A full-service spa is typical, but no less luxurious for it, and two restaurants and one beach-club cocktail bar ensure that your dining and drinking needs are well taken care of. All just minutes from the restaurants and nightlife that this place is famous for — if you’re going to do Seminyak, why not do it in style?
