Important information about traveling with kids:

Some hotels may charge extra for a rollaway bed or a crib - depending upon age. This possible extra charge is not always displayed by the hotel to appear with the list of available rates offered.

In order to make sure that you see the exact rate that you will be charged for an accommodation for more than 2 adults, it is best to double-check by emailing us at customer service with your dates and the ages of your children. We will be happy to confirm rates and availability for you.

Located on the sleepy Bleibtreustrasse, just off the shopper’s paradise of the Kurfürstendamm, the Bleibtreu Hotel is the sort of downtown boutique we’d like to see more of. This is a hotel that succeeds in being modern and hip, yet never painfully so, in being suitable for business and leisure travelers alike, not just bespectacled art directors and bar-hopping coolhunters.

Would it be impolite to say that identikit shades-of-white minimalism is looking a bit tired? Perhaps, but no matter, as there’s nothing of the sort to complain about here. The Bleibtreu may be all about simplicity, but there’s a lot of ground to be covered between simple and downright empty. In this case simple means there’s a certain unity to the décor, even when actual colors are used, like the occasional bold striped ceiling or mosaic-tiled bathroom.

Functionally, it’s all about ease, with simple furnishings, wireless LAN and remote lighting. The rooms aren’t palatial, but clever design avoids any feeling of crowding. Public spaces are too often neglected in smallish city boutiques—the Bleibtreu’s centerpiece is the terra cotta courtyard, along the alleyway beside the hotel, and its 30-foot aqua-blue mosaic table.

The Deli 31 brings a sense of New York to Berlin: burger, fries, salads, bagels, sandwiches as well as a weekly menu with German specialties like meat dumplings with cream-leek and mashed potatoes or fried sausages with sauerkraut are prepared in front of the guest in the open show kitchen. Hotel guests can choose from the buffet at Breakfast 31, or traditional breakfast is served for the late riser from 8AM to 10PM. The Espressobar 31 is perfect for a pick-me-up before braving the designer showrooms on the Ku’damm.

Here, in the entrance area of the Bleibtreu is Blumen 31, the hotel's own rose specialists. Where romantics will find rare types of rose alongside all kinds of exotic blossoms and bizarre beauties, which can be arranged by the florists into enchanting works of art. Naturally, the floral decorations for the hotel are also designed here.

Fun hotel in good location

By sjulien based in Seattle

Stayed February 2008

Overall rating: Good

I Liked

rooms were fun, clean, and innovative. english speaking (90%) staff made stay easier. breakfast was really nice. location was nice.

I Disliked

hotel was a bit past its prime. lots of minor issues that need attention or were fixed sort of haphazardly. felt a bit like a super-hip hotel that was just past its heyday. location, while in a cute neighborhood, was NOT super convenient to east berlin where many of the things i wanted to see as a tourist were. it was right near the U and S bahns, but not the MOST convienent.

Perfect location, reasonably priced, comfortable stylish rooms. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. The breakfast spread (included in room price) has everything you could ask for, no matter what your breakfast habits may be. This one is a keeper.

Review

I was thrilled with the hotel. I stay in great hotels all the time but the Bliebtreu was truly one of my favorite in a long time- amazing public spaces (the outdoor cafe was my favorite place to hang out in Berlin), great service, a fantastic room, and really terrific staff. I have been raving about the hotel to all of my friends- jaded world travelers like me- and it's on my top five list now. As always, Tablet did a great job pointing me to the hotel again. Thanks.

What is the Tablet Hotels Meter?

The Tablet Hotels Meter is a running average of the ratings given to a hotel by registered Tablet Hotels users who have actually stayed at the hotel. The scores are based on responses to our feedback survey, which is sent automatically to every user after the completion of a hotel stay booked through Tablet Hotels. We receive responses every day, the scores change accordingly - in real-time.

Tablet Hotels hotel ranking meter

This way we can be absolutely certain of the integrity of the rating process - on some travel websites, there is nothing preventing the General Manager from giving his own hotel a perfect score, or the concierge from across the street, posing as a dissatisfied guest, giving his competitor all zeros. You have probably seen questionable user reviews on other websites, whether flowery advertising copy written by fake guests, or vague negative attacks written anonymously. You will not see any of this on Tablet Hotels.

How does a hotel remain a Tablet Hotel?

We have selected nothing but the most unique and extraordinary properties from around the world, but circumstances at individual hotels can change quickly. Therefore it is up to our customers to inform us if one of our properties has taken a turn for the worse. The Tablet Hotels Meter works on a 20-point scale, and for a hotel to keep its place on Tablet Hotels, the magic number is 15.

This is not just an arbitrary figure; we have two years' worth of data, from past user feedback, and we have found that the hotels whose scores drop below 15 are those experiencing recurring problems, and guest detailed reports reflect the same serious concern, whether it be service, room quality, noise or something else.

The Tablet Hotels Meter will not display a score until we have had at least two customers rate the hotel. This way one person's unfortunate stay cannot carry too much weight. And once five guests have returned their verdicts, the rating becomes a more scientific measure of the opinion of the average guest. At this point, if the hotel's average overall score drops below 15, the hotel will be automatically removed from the site.

Your opinion really does count; in this case, it is the only thing keeping the hotels you visit on the site. On a more positive note, the hotels with top scores are featured in our "Tablet 10" lists. And as a side benefit, this system will encourage hotels to extend their best level of service to Tablet Hotels users - we turn every Tablet Hotels client into a reviewer!

Hotel Review and Travel Recommendation Guidelines

This is a moderated forum; all hotel reviews and travel recommendations must follow the Tablet Hotels and Tablet Talk guidelines below. We will not publish a hotel review or a travel recommendation unless it is:

Original

Please don't quote from other sources or otherwise reprint material published elsewhere, including your own comments on other travel review sites.

Relevant to other travelers

This is not a forum for general political, ethical or religious opinions. Nor is it a place for questions or comments directed to property representatives, Tablet Inc. staff, or other Tablet Talk members - we encourage you to use private channels for such communications. It should go without saying that we don't want to see personal insults or language that a reasonable observer might deem offensive. And please keep your submissions current - no need to mention a trip that happened more than two years ago.

A personal opinion or recommendation

Hotel reviews are restricted to verified guests who booked their stays through TabletHotels.com. Likewise, travel recommendations must be based on first-hand experience. No recommendations or reviews written by owners or managers posing as guests, or by current or past employees, or second-hand hearsay from others. If your friend/cousin/neighbor has something to contribute then you should invite them to join the community so that they may share their opinions themselves.

We do not allow recommendations to be written based on incentives from property owners/management. Offering discounts or upgrades or other special treatment in exchange for reviews is very much against the rules, and any property found to be engaging in this sort of thing will be dealt with most unforgivingly.

Non-commercial

Comment spam is a serious problem, and we will reject even the most borderline cases. No commercial web address, e-mail addresses or contact information. No promotional material of any kind. We reserve the right to reject any URL for any reason.

Written with standard e-mail etiquette

This is a forum with a broad readership; don't assume that hotel owners in Milan and travel agents in Guangzhou are familiar with the latest slang and shorthand, or that typographic symbols will be rendered properly across all platforms. Please don't shout in ALL CAPS - in general, keep it readable. And for various boring technical reasons, HTML tags and most forms of text and paragraph formatting, even simple lists, will not survive the posting process.

These reviews are posted exclusively by verified guests whose stays were booked through TabletHotels.com. We do encourage our clients to express their opinions, and what makes a hotel experience great is often something subjective, a matter of personal taste. At the same time, many of the hotels we list are extreme in one dimension or another, and are bound to disappoint somebody somewhere. These reviews are an excellent way to identify a hotel's particular quirks, and thereby avoid a poor hotel-guest match. But remember: if a hotel's overall customer rating falls lower than 15 out of 20, the hotel will be removed from our listings.

The opinions expressed in these reviews are solely those of our clients; the opinions expressed in any hotel management responses are solely those of the hotels themselves. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed within the reviews, and we are not affiliated with any of the hotels in question. We reserve the right to remove any of the review or management response at our discretion.
