If it’s an escape you’re after, there are few places more remote or unspoiled than the Daintree Rainforest in far north Queensland. The voyage from Cairns takes two hours, including a small plane landing on an outback airstrip and a trip by boat down the river, across Weary Bay and then finally back onto land at Bloomfield Lodge. The effort it takes to get here is part of the charm, and only intensifies the contrast between the rugged surroundings and the sheer luxury of the hotel itself. As your launch lands on the shore you’re handed a cooling drink and shown to the lodge, nestled on the wooded hillside overlooking the bay. From there it’s off to one of sixteen cabins, some more remote than others, with views and relative seclusion varying by room category. All are comfortable, stylish and immaculately maintained, with hardwood floors and elegant furnishings. You’ll have a minibar and a direct dial telephone, but no television — trust us, you won’t miss it.There’s more than enough to do, after all, from guided rainforest walks and a variety of boating expeditions to simpler pleasures like spa treatments, the game room, or simply lounging by the pool. Meals are served somewhat communally, around six-top tables in an open-walled dining room. Fresh seafood, steaks, and tropical vegetables are the order of the day, and it’s all included in the rate. As escapes go, it’s hard to beat — friendly and attentive service, top-class facilities, and a natural setting that’s as picturesque as it is remote.
Bloomfield Lodge does not accommodate children under 10 years old.

What I liked:
The hotel is very remote and simultaneously very well-appointed. You are surrounded by rainforest and perched on the coast. The food was very, very good and the level of service--you could arrange to be taken almost anywhere to do almost anything by boat---was superb.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing, had a wonderful stay!
