Argentina’s economy, after famously melting down at the turn of this century, seems to have rebounded handsomely, at least if the spate of recent hotel openings is any indication — forget about inflation or GDP, the Boutique Hotel Index is the only measure that matters to us. Suddenly it seems that around every corner in Buenos Aires there’s a stylish new hotel going up, and good ones too — and near the top of the class of 2006 is the ultra-modern Buenos Aires cE, Design Hotel.
The building, by the porteño architect Ernesto Goransky, stands in sharp contrast to its location on the Parisian-looking Rodriguez Peña Square, in Buenos Aires’s Barrio Norte. Rooms go from compact and efficient to large and lofty, but all look out through full-length windows and feature flat-screen televisions that pivot for universal viewing. What they may lack in coziness they make up for in visual impact, and the views from the balcony suites are particularly extraordinary.
There’s a small bar and café, and not much more, but no matter — in today’s Buenos Aires, no hotel is an island. Buenos Aires cE, Design Hotel’s location is a highly desirable one, whether for nightlife, culture, or shopping — the latter, along the Avenida Santa Fe, is some of the best in the city.
How to get there:
Buenos Aires cE, Design Hotel is approximately a 45 minute drive from Ezeiza International Airport, 15 minutes from the Domestic Airport, and 15 minutes from La Boca and Palermo Hollywood. Please contact customerservice@tablethotels.com to arrange airport transfers.

What I liked:
I recently stay ad cE Design Hotel during a business trip. Although the hotel is very simple in decor and style, I absolutely LOVED everything about it. My room was bright and airy. It was super clean. The bathroom had modern amenities and fixtures, including a spa tub! I especially loved the concrete floors throughout the hotel. It provides for a very industrial, but modern feel. Although most people will find the decor stark, if you like minimalism, then this is your place to stay.
Decor asside, I found the staff to be extremely helpful. They were all VERY knowledgeable about the local restaurants, bars, tourist attractions. I was alone, but I felt like I had a friend at the hotel every time I entered and left the place. I got to know them all by first name, including the owner. The staff makes all the difference in the world and I must give the entire staff 5 stars for their willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.
Overall, I give this hotel 5 stars for service, cleanliness and comfort.
ps: I you do indeed stay at this hotel, ask for the Frappe Mocha. You won't find it on any menu as it was made especially for me. It's a simple ice blended coffee drink with milk, espresso, chocolate and a sprinkle of cinamon. Simple, yet delicious, just like the hotel.
What the hotel could do better:
Add IPOD docks to every room so one can listen to music while getting dressed.

What I liked:
Very comfortable rooms - excellent bed! The style and layout of the hotel is great and it is in a central position - handy for getting to all areas. Breakfast is good and plenty though the public areas are a bit impersonal and even corridor-like.
What the hotel could do better:
Front desk staff were variable in their attention and willingness to help and in some cases, indifferent. A taxi was supposedly ordered for the airport but failed to arrive...apparently one had not been ordered. This wasn't too much of a problem as taxis are easy enough to come by in the centre of town but the staff were not apologetic and did not try to rectify the situation or apologise.
