It’s one of the seven deadly clichés of travel writing to call any place a “land of contrasts,” but is there a country in the world whose hotels vary more widely than India’s? While the stately old palaces might dominate in the public perception, when Indian hotels go modern, they really go modern. And the city of Kolkata certainly doesn’t lack for historic color, which makes the Chrome Hotel all the more distinctive — it’s a pretty striking piece of architecture, a very modern building dotted with circular porthole windows, lit up at night with multicolored LEDs.
The Chrome, as it turns out, has one foot in the luxury-hotel world and one foot in the design-hotel world. Well-heeled business travelers mix with well-dressed youngsters in spaces that have no equal, at least not in this town. The rooms are well equipped and visually bold, the restaurant and nightclub bring in the locals, and there’s a rooftop pool, a welcome touch in the warmer months. The maximalist design never lets up, but in comparison with the bustling city outside, the Chrome is a relative oasis of calm. If you’re a traditionalist or a top-shelf luxury junkie then it might not be quite to taste, but for a mix of modern design and traditional comforts, it’s hard to imagine doing better.
How to get there:
Chrome Hotel is approximately 18 km from Kolkata Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and is conveniently located near the city's commercial center. Please contact CustomerService@TabletHotels.com for assistance with airport transfers.

What I liked:
The hotel website & pics are nice.
IRL this is a completely different thing. This hotel is messy & dirty.
Bed sheets were grey, bathroom was dirty, sofa
What the hotel could do better:
They could change everything back to what we can expect from this hotel.
Maybe this hotel was excellent when they launched it but there is apparently a huge lack of management. No need to mention again a catastrophic cleanliness. We left the hotel day after to switch in a decent one.
