The Dan group runs a small empire of glittery resorts around Israel, but with a new boutique facility smartly up and running in Jerusalem and now the Dan Tel Aviv, a new age of hotel style is dawning over the Holy Land. It’s a look that grows on you: the hotel building itself is a massive, concrete beach-front edifice with a rainbow supergraphic across the front facade, surrounded by the city’s ramshackle coastal skyline. But Tel Aviv is to be admired more for its unique character than for any postcard charm, and the lively Lahat Promenade and the endless stretch of Mediterranean beach form a vibrant foreground, ripe for cosmopolitan beach-bumming.
The hotel is still in its metamorphic stages, joining up with the new Dan Boutique brand — rooms are ambitiously being transformed from quite standard fare into slick contemporary spaces. Tightly detailed paneling and crisp lines dominate, and high-tech bathroom fixtures complete the package. The result is a calming and international aesthetic; however, to remind you of your global position in the land of the Old Testament, there are artfully placed stalks of desert succulents evocative of Moses’s hike up Mount Sinai. There are two pools on premises, one of which is on the roof, along with fitness and spa facilities, and also notable is the D-Restaurant, serving up innovative regional cuisine.

What I liked:
I loved the rooms, and the service. The Friday night dinner in the banquet hall was amazing and reasonably priced.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing, had a wonderful stay!
