Luxembourg City may not be one of Europe’s headline-grabbing tourist destinations, but it sees its fair share of visitors — business travelers, perhaps, and those in search of an out-of-the-way urban escape. Among the former group there will be some who are in the mood for a departure from the business-hotel standard, and among the second, a decided preference for a suitably escapist hotel, a place with some character.
The Albert Premier is our humble suggestion: on a side street in the Belair residential district, it’s got that private-home ambience that’s essential to a hotel of this sort. The interiors are warm and welcoming, lavishly stocked with English and Italian antique furnishings, decorated in soft pastel tones, with lush printed fabrics and framed artworks. The five cozy rooms and the nine sprawling suites are all different but all equally elegant, and all suited equally for pleasure or business, with wireless internet access throughout.
Facilities are minimal by luxe-hotel standards but more than adequate for a small townhouse hotel; a sumptuous breakfast buffet is served on the terrace, and there’s a library/lounge for relaxing with a drink. Downstairs you’ll find a small fitness center and a sauna and massage room, as well as Cuore Ristorante, an elegant little eatery specializing in Venetian and Tuscan cuisines.
