The appeal of a hotel like Hôtel Le Sénat is simple and obvious: 41 sunny, thoroughly renovated, tastefully decorated rooms behind the facade of a 19th-century townhouse in Saint-Germain. It’s not exceedingly opulent, not straining to be stylish; it’s just a comfortable, well-run hotel in an excellent location, at a price point that doesn’t require a meeting with a wealth-management firm.
Le Sénat’s owners have splurged in all the right places: high-tech (and highly dreamy) Epeda mattresses, extra-fluffy towels, haute-brand fabrics and fittings by the likes of Frey, Nobilis and Osborne, large flat screens and free wi-fi. Book well and your room comes with a private terrace with views over the neighborhood’s rooftops. Book modestly and you’ve still got a bathroom stocked with toiletries by l’Occitane and the peace and quiet of a fully soundproofed room.
There’s not much public space in the hotel — just a pleasant, sofa-lined lounge-bar off the lobby and a small breakfast area — but it’s more than made up for by the public space outside. Luxembourg Park is a few steps away, and whether you’re into art, design, fashion, food, charming cafés or the coolest bars, you’ll find plenty of venues for spending the money you saved on your room.

What I liked:
To start, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. I was upgraded to a suite, which was nicely decorated and with great amenities. There was a welcome box of macaroons and mineral water. The rooms were airy and spacious (the suite). Most important is the location and overall value for the hotel: it was superbly positioned steps from Luxembourg gardens and right in the middle of great shops and restaurants, yet quite and peaceful. There is an honor bar downstairs with wines by the glass and nescafe- a nice touch.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing, had a wonderful stay! My only comment woul dbe that the picture on Tablet has what appears to be a rooftop breakfast eating area: while I was at the hotel, the breakfast was served in the bottom floor, which appeared to have no windows- perhaps a renovation is occurring?

What I liked:
The service is excellent; very friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to a top floor suite, which was small but perfect. Very comfortable, private, and quiet. Breakfast was convenient and good.
