Important information about traveling with kids:

Some hotels may charge extra for a rollaway bed or a crib - depending upon age. This possible extra charge is not always displayed by the hotel to appear with the list of available rates offered.

In order to make sure that you see the exact rate that you will be charged for an accommodation for more than 2 adults, it is best to double-check by emailing us at customer service with your dates and the ages of your children. We will be happy to confirm rates and availability for you.

We now have a new service dedicated to those Tablet Hotels users traveling with children that searches only the verified kid-friendly hotels. Search TabletKids Hotels

Barcelona is a brash, bustling and chaotic city, and this hotel is right in the middle of it all, behind a heavy unmarked silver door on the busy Pesseig de Gracia, the upscale shopper's avenue. From the outside, this 1930s building may not look all that remarkable; but once inside, it's easy to see why this is Barcelona's hotel of choice for the international fashion crowd.

The only thing keeping this hotel from that elusive fifth star is the lack of anin-house restaurant — in every other way, Hotel Prestige is the perfect picture of the luxury boutique, combining minimal Eastern design with the most luxe of amenities. The first floor lounge, Zeroom (we think it's a play on Room Zero, but don't quote us) serves as breakfast room and, later in the day, converts into a sort of chill-out room, with library and internet access, and is home to the hotel's Ask Me concierge service.

But it's in the bedroom that this hotel really shines: the 45 guest rooms are decorated in a smart monochrome palette with dark woods and leathers, and are spacious, especially for big-city hotel rooms, with large beds and plenty of sunlight. Bang & Olufsen entertainment centers and electronically controlled lighting complete the high-tech bachelor (or bachelorette) pad image, and bathrooms are black, rather than tired old marble, with walk-in showers and a veritable showroom of toiletries.

Front rooms, some with balconies over the Passeig de Gracia, have the best views, though the rearward rooms are quieter. Then again, only the truly perverse come to Barcelona for peace and quiet — our bet is you will be out and about so much, you wouldn't have noticed that there was no restaurant, had we not warned you.

Nice Place to Sleep

By pbradshaw374868 based in Austin

Overall rating: Good

I Liked

The room was fantastic. Very stylish and comfy. Bathrooms are super cool.

I Disliked

Service was non-existent beyond saying "good morning," "hello" and "good evening." When I asked for a restaurant recommendation, the front desk clerk (the only visible staff at ANY time during our stay) was completely flustered and put out. It wasn't a language issue. It was just disinterest. And I found that to be the case with all three desk clerks I interacted with.

Underwhelming

By mal nassar based in London

I Liked

I thought the location was very convenient. I liked that they provided incense in the rooms and the beds were comfortable.

I Disliked

The shower was not very practical as water sprayed everywhere. The corridors were not air conditioned and oppressively hot. Some of the reception staff were unfriendly.

A nice surprise

By gpagnoncelli based in Hong Kong

Stayed August 2008

Overall rating: Excellent

I Liked

The hotel is very conveniently located, not far away from most touristic spots, just above the train station of Paseo de Gracia and hundred metres away from subway station. Stilish but not over the top, my room was spacious with a balcony overlooking Paseo de Gracia. Although it is a main road, noise was minimal. Bathrooms are large and equipped with Etro toiletries. Bang & Olufsen applicances add style to the rooms.

I Disliked

Frankly speaking everything was very enjoyable.

What is the Tablet Hotels Meter?

The Tablet Hotels Meter is a running average of the ratings given to a hotel by registered Tablet Hotels users who have actually stayed at the hotel. The scores are based on responses to our feedback survey, which is sent automatically to every user after the completion of a hotel stay booked through Tablet Hotels. We receive responses every day, the scores change accordingly - in real-time.

Tablet Hotels hotel ranking meter

This way we can be absolutely certain of the integrity of the rating process - on some travel websites, there is nothing preventing the General Manager from giving his own hotel a perfect score, or the concierge from across the street, posing as a dissatisfied guest, giving his competitor all zeros. You have probably seen questionable user reviews on other websites, whether flowery advertising copy written by fake guests, or vague negative attacks written anonymously. You will not see any of this on Tablet Hotels.

How does a hotel remain a Tablet Hotel?

We have selected nothing but the most unique and extraordinary properties from around the world, but circumstances at individual hotels can change quickly. Therefore it is up to our customers to inform us if one of our properties has taken a turn for the worse. The Tablet Hotels Meter works on a 20-point scale, and for a hotel to keep its place on Tablet Hotels, the magic number is 15.

This is not just an arbitrary figure; we have two years' worth of data, from past user feedback, and we have found that the hotels whose scores drop below 15 are those experiencing recurring problems, and guest detailed reports reflect the same serious concern, whether it be service, room quality, noise or something else.

The Tablet Hotels Meter will not display a score until we have had at least two customers rate the hotel. This way one person's unfortunate stay cannot carry too much weight. And once five guests have returned their verdicts, the rating becomes a more scientific measure of the opinion of the average guest. At this point, if the hotel's average overall score drops below 15, the hotel will be automatically removed from the site.

Your opinion really does count; in this case, it is the only thing keeping the hotels you visit on the site. On a more positive note, the hotels with top scores are featured in our "Tablet 10" lists. And as a side benefit, this system will encourage hotels to extend their best level of service to Tablet Hotels users - we turn every Tablet Hotels client into a reviewer!

Hotel Review and Travel Recommendation Guidelines

This is a moderated forum; all hotel reviews and travel recommendations must follow the Tablet Hotels and Tablet Talk guidelines below. We will not publish a hotel review or a travel recommendation unless it is:

Original

Please don't quote from other sources or otherwise reprint material published elsewhere, including your own comments on other travel review sites.

Relevant to other travelers

This is not a forum for general political, ethical or religious opinions. Nor is it a place for questions or comments directed to property representatives, Tablet Inc. staff, or other Tablet Talk members - we encourage you to use private channels for such communications. It should go without saying that we don't want to see personal insults or language that a reasonable observer might deem offensive. And please keep your submissions current - no need to mention a trip that happened more than two years ago.

A personal opinion or recommendation

Hotel reviews are restricted to verified guests who booked their stays through TabletHotels.com. Likewise, travel recommendations must be based on first-hand experience. No recommendations or reviews written by owners or managers posing as guests, or by current or past employees, or second-hand hearsay from others. If your friend/cousin/neighbor has something to contribute then you should invite them to join the community so that they may share their opinions themselves.

We do not allow recommendations to be written based on incentives from property owners/management. Offering discounts or upgrades or other special treatment in exchange for reviews is very much against the rules, and any property found to be engaging in this sort of thing will be dealt with most unforgivingly.

Non-commercial

Comment spam is a serious problem, and we will reject even the most borderline cases. No commercial web address, e-mail addresses or contact information. No promotional material of any kind. We reserve the right to reject any URL for any reason.

Written with standard e-mail etiquette

This is a forum with a broad readership; don't assume that hotel owners in Milan and travel agents in Guangzhou are familiar with the latest slang and shorthand, or that typographic symbols will be rendered properly across all platforms. Please don't shout in ALL CAPS - in general, keep it readable. And for various boring technical reasons, HTML tags and most forms of text and paragraph formatting, even simple lists, will not survive the posting process.

These reviews are posted exclusively by verified guests whose stays were booked through TabletHotels.com. We do encourage our clients to express their opinions, and what makes a hotel experience great is often something subjective, a matter of personal taste. At the same time, many of the hotels we list are extreme in one dimension or another, and are bound to disappoint somebody somewhere. These reviews are an excellent way to identify a hotel's particular quirks, and thereby avoid a poor hotel-guest match. But remember: if a hotel's overall customer rating falls lower than 15 out of 20, the hotel will be removed from our listings.

The opinions expressed in these reviews are solely those of our clients; the opinions expressed in any hotel management responses are solely those of the hotels themselves. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed within the reviews, and we are not affiliated with any of the hotels in question. We reserve the right to remove any of the review or management response at our discretion.
