Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona:
The Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona is a boutique luxury hotel in Barcelona, Spain situated on Bergera street which opens on to Plaza Catalunya, the center of Barcelona.

Tablet Hotels review:
Not to be confused with the delicate old-world Pulitzer in Amsterdam, this Pulitzer is as modern as they come, fitting effortlessly into Barcelona’s already expansive cohort of high-design hipster hotels. It’s a 2004 renovation of a Twenties building, and its carefully preserved facade offers little hint of the striking Art Deco-influenced spaces within — again, in true Barcelona style.

Where it departs slightly from the standard set by its peers is in its embrace of conspicuous luxury. The Pulitzer is unashamedly upscale, the public spaces festooned with deep leather sofas, lacquered bookshelves lined with books, and a collection of contemporary and antique artworks; bold and clean it is, but minimal it certainly isn’t.

Upstairs the rooms carry on in the same key; more leather, more rich dark wood, more top-quality furnishings, and upmarket musts like plasma televisions and free wireless internet. Bathrooms, the true measure of any hotel’s luxury quotient, are suitably decadent, tiled in grey stone, stocked with own-brand bath products and custom robes and slippers.

The restaurant and bar are fine ones, strong contenders in a town that’s already quite full of excellent restaurants and bars; the spaces are luxe and stylish, and the roof terrace is a genuine treat, ideal for a sunset cocktail. But you don’t come to Barcelona to shut yourself up in your hotel — the Pulitzer’s location, just off Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, is at the heart of the city, placing all the best of Barcelona at your feet.

Overall rating: Excellent

I Liked

terrific, helpful staff. thank you Iker! lots of natural light! love the open garden court. room was impeccable and clean. location is great. i will return to hotel pulitzer. took photos and my friends were impressed!

I Disliked

not really a dislike, but some furniture are getting a little worn and needs a touch-up of paint to bring back some freshness. don't want the place to get shabby. that would be such a shame.

Greatly enjoyed our stay

By jorth505253 based in New York

Overall rating: Excellent

I Liked

The location was outstanding (equivalent to Union Square in NYC -- a major transportation hub equidistant from everything). The staff were very accommodating, helpful and patient, and gave honest recommendations when I asked them to be blunt. The rooms were clean and well-cared-for. The prices were great. The lobby and bar were comfortable.

I Disliked

I suppose it could be even swankier for even less money, but ... meh.

Great Location. Good Service.

I Liked

Love the location of this hotel. It is just 2 min walk from the Catalunya Plaza. It was our first time to barcelona, we took the aerobus to Catalunya Plaza and the hotel is right there, extremely convenient. There are many restaurants in the area, the tourist bus station is 2 min walk, and there is a metro station right outside. You cannot ask for more. The lobby of the hotel is great, nice hangout for a drink before dinner or after a long day of walking around town. Too bad, the roof top garden was not open, I think it will be very nice during the summer time. Although the hotel does not have a gym, they do give us a day pass to a local gym, around 10 mins away walk from the hotel. Great service.

I Disliked

The room was smaller than what we expected. It was a corner room, and there is this big pillar in the middle it. The bed was good, but it was just quite cramped.

What is the Tablet Hotels Meter?

The Tablet Hotels Meter is a running average of the ratings given to a hotel by registered Tablet Hotels users who have actually stayed at the hotel. The scores are based on responses to our feedback survey, which is sent automatically to every user after the completion of a hotel stay booked through Tablet Hotels. We receive responses every day, the scores change accordingly - in real-time.

Tablet Hotels hotel ranking meter

This way we can be absolutely certain of the integrity of the rating process - on some travel websites, there is nothing preventing the General Manager from giving his own hotel a perfect score, or the concierge from across the street, posing as a dissatisfied guest, giving his competitor all zeros. You have probably seen questionable user reviews on other websites, whether flowery advertising copy written by fake guests, or vague negative attacks written anonymously. You will not see any of this on Tablet Hotels.

How does a hotel remain a Tablet Hotel?

We have selected nothing but the most unique and extraordinary properties from around the world, but circumstances at individual hotels can change quickly. Therefore it is up to our customers to inform us if one of our properties has taken a turn for the worse. The Tablet Hotels Meter works on a 20-point scale, and for a hotel to keep its place on Tablet Hotels, the magic number is 15.

This is not just an arbitrary figure; we have two years' worth of data, from past user feedback, and we have found that the hotels whose scores drop below 15 are those experiencing recurring problems, and guest detailed reports reflect the same serious concern, whether it be service, room quality, noise or something else.

The Tablet Hotels Meter will not display a score until we have had at least two customers rate the hotel. This way one person's unfortunate stay cannot carry too much weight. And once five guests have returned their verdicts, the rating becomes a more scientific measure of the opinion of the average guest. At this point, if the hotel's average overall score drops below 15, the hotel will be automatically removed from the site.

Your opinion really does count; in this case, it is the only thing keeping the hotels you visit on the site. On a more positive note, the hotels with top scores are featured in our "Tablet 10" lists. And as a side benefit, this system will encourage hotels to extend their best level of service to Tablet Hotels users - we turn every Tablet Hotels client into a reviewer!

Hotel Review and Travel Recommendation Guidelines

This is a moderated forum; all hotel reviews and travel recommendations must follow the Tablet Hotels and Tablet Talk guidelines below. We will not publish a hotel review or a travel recommendation unless it is:

Original

Please don't quote from other sources or otherwise reprint material published elsewhere, including your own comments on other travel review sites.

Relevant to other travelers

This is not a forum for general political, ethical or religious opinions. Nor is it a place for questions or comments directed to property representatives, Tablet Inc. staff, or other Tablet Talk members - we encourage you to use private channels for such communications. It should go without saying that we don't want to see personal insults or language that a reasonable observer might deem offensive. And please keep your submissions current - no need to mention a trip that happened more than two years ago.

A personal opinion or recommendation

Hotel reviews are restricted to verified guests who booked their stays through TabletHotels.com. Likewise, travel recommendations must be based on first-hand experience. No recommendations or reviews written by owners or managers posing as guests, or by current or past employees, or second-hand hearsay from others. If your friend/cousin/neighbor has something to contribute then you should invite them to join the community so that they may share their opinions themselves.

We do not allow recommendations to be written based on incentives from property owners/management. Offering discounts or upgrades or other special treatment in exchange for reviews is very much against the rules, and any property found to be engaging in this sort of thing will be dealt with most unforgivingly.

Non-commercial

Comment spam is a serious problem, and we will reject even the most borderline cases. No commercial web address, e-mail addresses or contact information. No promotional material of any kind. We reserve the right to reject any URL for any reason.

Written with standard e-mail etiquette

This is a forum with a broad readership; don't assume that hotel owners in Milan and travel agents in Guangzhou are familiar with the latest slang and shorthand, or that typographic symbols will be rendered properly across all platforms. Please don't shout in ALL CAPS - in general, keep it readable. And for various boring technical reasons, HTML tags and most forms of text and paragraph formatting, even simple lists, will not survive the posting process.

These reviews are posted exclusively by verified guests whose stays were booked through TabletHotels.com. We do encourage our clients to express their opinions, and what makes a hotel experience great is often something subjective, a matter of personal taste. At the same time, many of the hotels we list are extreme in one dimension or another, and are bound to disappoint somebody somewhere. These reviews are an excellent way to identify a hotel's particular quirks, and thereby avoid a poor hotel-guest match. But remember: if a hotel's overall customer rating falls lower than 15 out of 20, the hotel will be removed from our listings.

The opinions expressed in these reviews are solely those of our clients; the opinions expressed in any hotel management responses are solely those of the hotels themselves. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed within the reviews, and we are not affiliated with any of the hotels in question. We reserve the right to remove any of the review or management response at our discretion.
