Named for the four-leaf-clover figure that forms a common motif in Spanish Colonial Colombian architecture, the Quadrifolio is a bit of a time capsule. It’s a renovated colonial manor house on the Calle del Cuartel, in the historic walled old town of Cartagena, the port city where Colombia meets the Caribbean.
This town was more or less the capital of the New World at various times in the past, and there’s more than a hint of that old romance around the Quadrifolio. With just eight suites it’s about as small as it gets, but it’s as comfortable as any luxury hotel at any size — with king beds, 42-inch plasma screens and iPod docking stereos, it’s quite up to date, and the small size and intimate atmosphere have to count as added luxuries.
Few eight-room hotels come complete with swimming pools and hot tubs, but this one does. It’s a fine choice for a quiet escape, and a surprisingly good one for corporate retreats as well, with well-equipped meeting space and a catering service. Best yet is the easy access to Cartagena’s charming Centro district, which is a good deal more scenic than most people’s image of Colombia.

What I liked:
Wow - enough said!
Incredible customer service - they even did a special b-day cake & surprise "Feliz Cumpleanos" song for her upon our arrival from dinner/carriage ride that they also organized for us.
Beautiful decor.
Great welcome drink.
Very good location.
Wonderful full breakfast (my 5 year old daughter's favorite - very "fancy")
Nice business/library/tv room to do some work if necessary
Would be amazing romantic get-a-away hotel (we had our kids but they still were very nice & accommodating)
Pool is small but very refreshing
Room is made up twice daily - a nice treat after breakfast & afternoon siesta to have your room all clean and tidy (they even folded our clothes & organized our things)
Cartagena at it's finest!
What the hotel could do better:
Internet was spotty in our room but worked well in the open air area.
This wasn't a problem for us but we had our kids with us so we were very worried about disturbing other guests as noise travels in the main open air area - though no one complained, etc. - we were just overly cautious & didn't want to disturb any other guests.

What I liked:
The atmosphere and service were perfect. Aside from being greeted with a much needed cool cloth upon returning from anywhere, any drink (fruit or otherwise) were immediately presented upon request. The room was spacious, and the setting is beautiful and intimate.
Another delightful perk -- if you need something to eat and don't feel like going out or don't have time, the staff will cook you up something upon request. Delicious!
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing, had a wonderful stay!
