You might surmise from the name that the Spadari is just steps away from the Duomo cathedral, and you′d be right. But close proximity to tourist attractions isn′t what keeps the Spadari′s style-conscious clientele coming back again and again—designers and editors set up shop here during the furniture fair, and it′s a perennial favorite of the fashion industry as well.
Perhaps it′s the cool blues of the interior, a welcome break from the greys and beiges typical to Milan′s interiors (and exteriors, for that matter, though wishing for a cool blue sky might be asking a bit much). Contemporary works by local artists hang on the walls, and the American Bar features a fresco painting by Valentino Vago—this is the furthest thing possible from the typical uninspired hotel-room art, purchased by the square meter from art-college recycle bins.
Rooms are chic and comfortable, with custom-built furniture by Ugo la Pietra, and some rooms come with balconies, rich with greenery, and the junior suites on the seventh floor have views of the Duomo itself. Services are a bit stripped-down, in Italian boutique style; there′s no restaurant, just breakfast and some simple dishes in the American Bar. Still, that′s nothing to complain about—you can′t walk a block without stumbling into a fantastic café, not to mention what is, for many of us, Milan′s main attraction: not La Scala or the Duomo, but the Golden Quadrangle of designer shops.
The hotel is on a wonderful small street surrounded by high-end cafes. It is two blocks away from the Piazza del Duomo and a couple more from the high-end shopping area. It is a very good location and the hotel is nice and clean with good rooms and amenities. Solid value, no complaints at all.
After a long flight across the Atlantic, it's always a little stressful making your way to the first hotel of your trip. You're tired, a little sore from the trip, and there's a little nagging voice in the back of your mind that worries that your hotel choice will not measure up to the comfort and services you'd like to help recharge and regroup quickly after your journey. It was a real pleasure to check in here and have everything be great. The rooms (even the more standard versions) had showers to die for, a cosmopolitan view of the city that added to the charm, a pair of cozy slippers (the complimentary Italian poetry book was a nice touch!) and a friendly staff.
I Disliked
The mattress was a tad like italian marble, but hey, who wants to lollygag in bed with so much to see and do in the city.
Very well placed the centre of Milan and next to its best deli. Nice rooms with good helpful service. The breakfast was very good - my wife said her boiled egg was better than home! I thought it was better than many a hotel with a full-time restaurant.

You have probably seen questionable user reviews on other websites, whether flowery advertising copy written by fake guests, or vague negative attacks written anonymously. You will not see any of this on Tablet Hotels.
How does a hotel remain a Tablet Hotel?
We have selected nothing but the most unique and extraordinary properties from around the world, but circumstances at individual hotels can change quickly. Therefore it is up to our customers to inform us if one of our properties has taken a turn for the worse. The Tablet Hotels Meter works on a 20-point scale, and for a hotel to keep its place on Tablet Hotels, the magic number is 15.
This is not just an arbitrary figure; we have two years' worth of data, from past user feedback, and we have found that the hotels whose scores drop below 15 are those experiencing recurring problems, and guest detailed reports reflect the same serious concern, whether it be service, room quality, noise or something else.
The Tablet Hotels Meter will not display a score until we have had at least two customers rate the hotel. This way one person's unfortunate stay cannot carry too much weight. And once five guests have returned their verdicts, the rating becomes a more scientific measure of the opinion of the average guest. At this point, if the hotel's average overall score drops below 15, the hotel will be automatically removed from the site.
Your opinion really does count; in this case, it is the only thing keeping the hotels you visit on the site. On a more positive note, the hotels with top scores are featured in our "Tablet 10" lists. And as a side benefit, this system will encourage hotels to extend their best level of service to Tablet Hotels users - we turn every Tablet Hotels client into a reviewer!
