LUMEN Paris Louvre

A little explanation in order to properly introduce the new Hotel Lumen: Paris is in another league when it comes to hotels — its enormous volume of tourist traffic combined with its general scarcity of real estate places it in the same pricey bracket as London or Tokyo. Combine that with a generally conservative bunch of hotel decorators — no, we don’t get it either — and you’ve got a pretty solid rule of thumb: you can have an affordable hotel, a stylish hotel, or a conveniently located hotel, but rarely two of those, and almost never all three.
We’d be lying to you if we told you the Lumen belonged in the budget category. But to find a hotel this stylish and modern, located literally steps from the Louvre, is a pretty big deal. And the price is really very much in line with the product: this is a top-flight luxury boutique, whose striking contemporary design fireworks are discreetly hidden behind the facade of a classic Haussmannian townhouse.
The thirty-two rooms and suites vary in size, but they’ve all got views of one kind or another, and all look sharp, in custom-made furnishings and marble or Bisazza-tile bathrooms. And the ace in the hole, to add to the location and the look, is the restaurant: Le Passage Saint-Roch operates under the guidance of the famed cookbook writer Frédérick Grasser Hermé.

The location is great, very sensible if you want to do a lot by foot in the centre of Paris. The service was fine.
What the hotel could do better
The room was absolutely tiny, though comfortable, and I could barely use the desk for my laptop (it's only a 15") and there is no wifi, which is really unacceptable for a hotel that opened so recently. The internet connection didn't really work steadily which is pretty crucial when you travel on business.

This is one of the best locations if you are trying to see the Louvre Museum and other sites in Paris. I had a corner room on the 4th floor that overlooked a beautiful church. The staff helped us book a reservation and were very helpful when we checked in early due to our early arrival. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being perfect) for boutique hotels that I have to compare from all over the world, I would give this hotel between a 7.5 and 8. For the price and location, I would give it a 9.9! Cleanliness: 9; Hospitality: 9; Size 7.5; Quietness: 10; Breakfast: 8.5
What the hotel could do better
Nothing really stood out that I disliked. Just a small boutique hotel in an AMAZING location for tourists

Location
What the hotel could do better
Rooms are tiny, poorly arranged, dirty, and the room was only ready for a check-in at 4:35 instead of 3 pm. I was offered no extention on the check-out time. The safe in the room was broken. Sink was blocked and the TV set is place at a fixed angle which makes it very uncomfortable to watch from the bed.
Staff were not helpful and could not even assist in booking a theatre.

These reviews are posted exclusively by verified guests whose stays were booked through TabletHotels.com. We do encourage our clients to express their opinions, and what makes a hotel experience great is often something subjective, a matter of personal taste. At the same time, many of the hotels we list are extreme in one dimension or another, and are bound to disappoint somebody somewhere. These reviews are an excellent way to identify a hotel's particular quirks, and thereby avoid a poor hotel-guest match. But remember: if a hotel's overall customer rating falls lower than 15 out of 20, the hotel will be removed from our listings.
