It’s often a bit of a gamble commissioning boutique hotel interiors from fashion designers, but one thing you can almost always be sure of is that you won’t end up looking at the same tired minimalism you’ve already seen in a thousand other hotels. Extravagant materials, bold colors, quirky details and statements aplenty are pretty much the order of the day, and once in a while it all coheres into something remarkable and unique — certainly that’s the case with Christian Lacroix’s redesign for Paris’s Hotel Bellechasse.
Especially when it comes to Paris hotels we often find ourselves wondering why such a stylish city can’t let its hair down a bit. This place, however, will inspire no such complaints; the Bellechasse borders on the flamboyant, as a glance at the photos will tell you. It’s certainly not for traditionalists, or tourists in search of the typically Parisian; simply put it’s for people who don’t mind a room with extremely bold printed wallpaper, vertical arrow slits for windows, and a bathtub in plain view in the corner of the bedroom, where attempting to use the shower attachment would result in an aquatic disaster of near-Biblical proportions.
That sound you hear is the collective sound of virtually all our business-travel customers (and a sizable proportion of our shower-happy Americans) clicking their browser’s “back” button. Those of you who are still with us, however, will find a hotel that’s delightfully full of character, full of surprises, nearly as comfortable as can be (while stopping just short of out-and-out luxury) and with a fine location to boot, just a block from the Musée d’Orsay.

The location was amazing,just next to musee d'orsay in a charming and upscale district of Paris.Our room was ready already at 11am as we arrived early.

The room was very,very small(but we did get a very good price) and there was a strange smell...otherwise all was very good!

Eclectic style; great location very central to the 6th, 7th and 1st.
What the hotel could do better
Sent my shirt for laundering and was promised it's return by 7:30 pm. When we departed for dinner at 8:15 it still had not been delivered. When told I was now leaving for my evening in a t-shirt rather than the dress shirt in which I'd intended the receptionist simply said "As I've already told you we'll send it up as soon as it arrives."

Location was great...close to where I needed to be. Rooms were interesting and relatively large by Paris standards.
What the hotel could do better
While the design was interesting and eclectic, I found things in a bit of disrepair. It seemed like there was quite a bit of wear and tear...I guess I expected things to be pretty pristine considering the location, prior reviews and all the "hype".

Le Bellechasse was wonderful. Amazing location. I can not speak highly enough about the location, it was central to everything we wanted to see and not even advertised on the promotional materials. We are talking less than 5 mins from the louvre, less than 20 mins walk from st. germain de pres and the relais d'entrecote in that area, etc. The room itself could be considered a little small for some but was wonderfully furnished and decorated, with a great bed and a wonderful bathroom. The slippers are excellent. I visit Paris every year and this will be my regular hotel from now on.
