Deep in the French countryside it may be, but Les Deux Abbesses is far from the stereotypical farmhouse-pastoral getaway you might be thinking of. The Auvergne is rural, to be sure, but its countryside is one of valleys, lakes, and volcanic mountains, a more wild experience than the gentle farmlands of the South.
High on a hilltop above the Allier river stands an old abbey at the center of a ruined village; the abbey today forms the hotel's central building, and the rooms are scattered throughout the village's handful of restored stone houses. The look is antique, naturally, but the experience is certainly up to contemporary standards: many rooms come with four-poster beds and soaking tubs, and some have private terraces or gardens.
More than most French country getaways, this is an escape — it's quiet up here, and there's little but the landscape to keep guests entertained. Les Deux Abbesses offers massage and reflexology treatments, a rarity indeed for a place like this, and the hotel's restaurant serves lunch and dinner in a small, elegant dining room. Farther afield there are ancient feudal sights to see, and this part of France is heaven for outdoor types — there's no shame, however, in making like the abbesses themselves, and just cloistering yourself in.

Les Deux Abbesses is approximately a 1 1/4 hour drive from Clermont Aulnat Airport, 5 1/2 hours from Paris and 4 hours from Marseille.

This way we can be absolutely certain of the integrity of the rating process - on some travel websites, there is nothing preventing the General Manager from giving his own hotel a perfect score, or the concierge from across the street, posing as a dissatisfied guest, giving his competitor all zeros. You have probably seen questionable user reviews on other websites, whether flowery advertising copy written by fake guests, or vague negative attacks written anonymously. You will not see any of this on Tablet Hotels.
How does a hotel remain a Tablet Hotel?
We have selected nothing but the most unique and extraordinary properties from around the world, but circumstances at individual hotels can change quickly. Therefore it is up to our customers to inform us if one of our properties has taken a turn for the worse. The Tablet Hotels Meter works on a 20-point scale, and for a hotel to keep its place on Tablet Hotels, the magic number is 15.
This is not just an arbitrary figure; we have two years' worth of data, from past user feedback, and we have found that the hotels whose scores drop below 15 are those experiencing recurring problems, and guest detailed reports reflect the same serious concern, whether it be service, room quality, noise or something else.
The Tablet Hotels Meter will not display a score until we have had at least two customers rate the hotel. This way one person's unfortunate stay cannot carry too much weight. And once five guests have returned their verdicts, the rating becomes a more scientific measure of the opinion of the average guest. At this point, if the hotel's average overall score drops below 15, the hotel will be automatically removed from the site.
Your opinion really does count; in this case, it is the only thing keeping the hotels you visit on the site. On a more positive note, the hotels with top scores are featured in our "Tablet 10" lists. And as a side benefit, this system will encourage hotels to extend their best level of service to Tablet Hotels users - we turn every Tablet Hotels client into a reviewer!

If your friend/cousin/neighbor has something to contribute then you should invite them to join the community so that they may share their opinions themselves.
