Limassol, the south coast port town that’s Cyprus’s second city, has for years been on nobody’s list of fashionable travel destinations. It’s got the natural beauty, to be sure, and the infrastructure, but the hotel offerings have been largely confined to drab and unhip Seventies resorts.
Londa changes all this: though it’s been around for thirty years, it’s just been redesigned by the Milan-based Studio Caruzzo & Rancati. Now it’s effortlessly stylish, at once rich and restrained, and has taken to billing itself as “Cyprus’s first couture hotel,” a phrase that sums it up as well as any other. All the furniture, for a start, was custom-designed and built specifically for the Londa — so you’re spared the horror of sitting on an off-the-rack chaise.
Looks are important, of course, but it’s the simpler things, like the service, that can make or break a hotel. The Londa’s management draws on years of experience with some hospitality heavyweights, so you can expect the staff to be professional through and through. And as for creature comforts, nothing’s been left out — this is the classic Mediterranean seaside escape, complete with full-service spa, a fine and fashionable restaurant and bar, and impressive panoramic views from the pool terrace. Couture hotel though it may be, you’ll quickly find the beauty is more than skin deep.
