Not quite in the heart of the traditional city center, the Montgomery is nevertheless quite convenient for business travelers—located in a residential area in Upper Town, it is a ten-minute walk from the European Communities and a ten-minute drive from both the airport and the picturesque destinations of the Lower Town.

As such it’s pleasantly quiet, and once inside, the old-world charm is enveloping—rooms are luxurious, with thick carpets, rich fabrics, antique furniture and deep bold colors. Add modern amenities like DVD players, internet access and modern marble baths with Molton Brown products, and it’s everything a business traveler could ask for, with none of the beige blandness of the chain hotels, and an exceedingly intimate atmosphere due to its modest size, as compared to the enormous downtown grand hotels.

That’s not to say it’s inappropriate for leisure travel, though; the Montgomery may not be right off the cobblestone walkways of the Grand Place, but such attractions as René Magritte’s residence and the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire are easily accessible. The La Duchesse restaurant is generally well-regarded, and Monty’s Bar with its library seating makes for a pleasant end to an evening, or an ideal place to keep up with the news, from an assortment of international newspapers and magazines.
