Odette en ville: Odette’s place in the city. A pocket-sized boutique in Brussels, named for (as best we can tell) a fictional character. As it turns out, you can infer quite a lot about the lady in question just from a quick look around chez Odette — the most suggestive detail, perhaps, is that she seems to be quite fond of the color black. A lot of Brussels hotels, were they personified, would be a bit dowdy, a bit old-fashioned. This one is chic in an understated way, dressed in a manner that’s versatile enough to suit any occasion, from the boardroom, as they say, to the bedroom.
Her charms extend beyond the visual. Rooms come equipped with gas fireplaces and double-sized soaking tubs, as well as top-shelf bath products. The sitting room is a stylish space, a mock library whose walls are lined in book-print wallpaper. And the lounge is attractive as well, a dark and cozy place for a drink or a pastry, with some added furniture funk courtesy of Marcel Wanders. With a location just off the Avenue Louise, it’s ideally placed as a base camp for a luxury shopping expedition — and with just eight rooms, it’s small enough (and discreet enough) to be perfectly suited for something a little more private.
