Important information about traveling with kids:

Some hotels may charge extra for a rollaway bed or a crib - depending upon age. This possible extra charge is not always displayed by the hotel to appear with the list of available rates offered.

In order to make sure that you see the exact rate that you will be charged for an accommodation for more than 2 adults, it is best to double-check by emailing us at customer service with your dates and the ages of your children. We will be happy to confirm rates and availability for you.

We now have a new service dedicated to those Tablet Hotels users traveling with children that searches only the verified kid-friendly hotels. Search TabletKids Hotels

The celebrity chef Alain Ducasse seems to be doing rather well for himself in his second line as a country-house hotelier — his Tuscan villa, L’Andana, has been a smashing success, on both the hospitality and culinary fronts. And while the French Basque Country may not have quite the postcard cachet of Tuscany, it’s more than scenic enough, and has a culinary tradition all its own; so it’s here that he’s chosen as a setting for Ostapé.

Twenty-two guest rooms are spread across the estate, in the 18th-century manor house and some newly-built (but authentically-styled) outlying villas. Here in the country they’re not hurting for space — rooms range from 45 to 90 square meters, and all have living rooms and either balconies or terraces with views of the mountains and valley.

Diversions tend toward the low-key — there’s a pool, of course, as well as a Turkish bath, a fitness center, and a sauna. A cooking school is a natural choice for a hotel with this kind of pedigree, and obviously the restaurant is key to the experience; the menu, updated daily, is traditional, and the ingredients come from the region’s farms and the Ostapé vegetable gardens.

Kids:

Guests over the age of 12 are considered adults. Some rooms accommodate 3 or more. The "Suite Prestige" room sleeps up to 4 guests. For crib/cot, must book "Suite" room or larger. For 2 adults + rollaway bed, must book "Suite" or larger. For 2 adults + 2 kids beyond crib age, must book "Suite Prestige" room or larger. Connecting rooms available. Must be confirmed upon check-in.

Cribs are available for an additional fee of €18. Roll-away beds available for an additional fee of €45. No additional charges for kids beyond crib/roll-away.

Fenced in pool available that allows kids. Babysitting services provided by screened outside help at €10 per hour. The restaurant is kid-friendly with high chairs and a kids menu.
