Shiodome Media Tower, 1-7-1 Higashi Shinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan

Like many Tokyo hotels, the Park Hotel occupies part of a mixed-use skyscraper; in this case, ten uppermost floors of the Shiodome Media Tower, right in the heart of downtown. Architecturally, the Park Hotel is rather unique — the core of the building has been hollowed out, so that its 274 rooms all face outward. The result is a sun-drenched ten-story atrium, extending 120 feet straight up to the skyscraper's glass ceiling — far more refreshing than the enclosed lobby floor of some Tokyo tower hotels. The rooms are decorated in a soothing contemporary style, with dark wood and earthy fabrics set against white walls, and bright sunlight or warm electric light from stylish Italian fixtures, depending on the weary traveler's internal clock. Technology is everywhere, as one would expect in a building called the Media Tower; rooms feature broadband internet and satellite TV, among other modern conveniences.Jet lag is a problem in Tokyo hotels, with many guests twelve hours off from their home time zones, and it is commonplace for hotels to feature blackout curtains to let guests sleep in and adjust. The Park Hotel goes one step beyond — here staffers are available for professional consultations regarding sleep habits, and pillows are custom-fitted, stuffed by hand, to match such measurements as neck length and preferred sleeping position. File this one under “only in Japan,” at least until the big luxury chains catch on.The Shiodome district is one of Tokyo's most futuristic areas, a visual feast, and the Ginza shopping district is close at hand. The financial center is nearby, and if you happen to be in the television business, this is your neighborhood. And the Shiodome subway station is directly connected to the tower through a ground-floor entrance, for easy access to the rest of Tokyo, in case Shiodome hasn't yet overloaded your senses.
How to get there:
The Park Hotel Tokyo stands at the 25th floor of the 'Shiodome Media Tower' and is directly connected to the Shiodome Station on the Toei Oedo (exits 7,8) and Yurikamome subway lines.
7-minute walk from Shimbashi Station (JR lines) and subway (Ginza line and Toei Asakusa line).
8 minutes by car from Tokyo Station.
From Narita International Airport take the Narita Express train, which reaches Tokyo Station in approximately 90 minutes.

What I liked:
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
What the hotel could do better:
Staff should be able to communicate in a more western matter.
A 24 hour coffee shop would be an advantage.

What I liked:
Impressive view, good bathroom, comfortable beds.
What the hotel could do better:
Better access guide. The area has 3 stations and it can be confusing.
Late night dining options. It is common to dine late in Japan and as the hotel is a little removed from the street some in-house option for guests would be nice.

What I liked:
Like the rest of Tokyo, the hotel was incredibly clean, well-maintained, and there was great attention to detail. This was true for Japan in general but I loved the bathrooms. The plumbing was great and all the toiletries I could want or think of were included. It's conveniently located in walking distance from the Fish Market. The views are great.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing; Had a wonderful stay!
