Some hotels may charge extra for a rollaway bed or a crib - depending upon age. This possible extra charge is not always displayed by the hotel to appear with the list of available rates offered.
In order to make sure that you see the exact rate that you will be charged for an accommodation for more than 2 adults, it is best to double-check by
emailing us at customer service
with your dates and the ages of your children. We will be happy to confirm rates and availability for you.
We now have a new service dedicated to those Tablet Hotels users traveling with children that searches only the verified kid-friendly hotels.

Think San Diego and you’re likely to think of crashing surf, Pacific ocean breeze, and, less pleasantly, mobs of tourists feeding parking meters down by the beach. Just north of the city, though, a few miles inland from Del Mar, is the Rancho Valencia Resort, a quiet retreat in a private canyon near the affluent residential community of Rancho Santa Fe.
This place could be Southern California’s best-kept secret—unless you’re a tennis enthusiast, in which case you may well be here for one of the world-renowned clinics, or a private session with one of the coaches. Most guests, though, are here for an escape, a resort an easy drive from both Los Angeles and San Diego which nevertheless offers a measure of discreet seclusion.
Accommodations are scattered about the grounds, hacienda-style, with one or two suites to each casita. Suites feature cathedral ceilings, hand-painted tiles, fireplaces, and above all a generous measure of space; one benefit of the inland location is that one avoids the jockeying for the best westward view and the endless stacking of buildings as close to the beach as possible. Instead each suite opens through French doors onto a private patio with outdoor seating and a view all its own.
Service is impeccable, the surroundings are luxurious, and the cuisine exceeds all expectations; the Rancho Valencia serves sophisticated California specialties under whitewashed beamed ceilings, around a mission-style courtyard. Almost frighteningly luxurious and restful, especially considering the convenient location—you’ll never miss the ocean, much less the atmosphere of the seaside resorts.
How to get there:
Rancho Valencia Resort is (24 Miles) a 35 minute drive from San Diego International Airport. Take Interstate 5 north, 15.9 miles. Exit at Del Mar Heights Road, turn right, 0.6 miles. Turn left at El Camino Real, 1.9 miles. Turn right at San Dieguito Road, 2.7 miles. Turn right at Rancho Diegueno Road. Turn left (immediately) at Rancho Valencia Road, 0.5 miles. Turn left at Rancho Valencia Drive, 0.4 miles. Please contact customerservice@tablethotels.com to arrange airport transfers.
The service was the best I have experienced at a hotel from the security guard at the gate knowing about my expected arrival to the reception desk having my documents ready and knowing who I was the minute I walked in.
The Tablet Hotels Meter is a running average of the ratings given to a hotel by registered Tablet Hotels users who have actually stayed at the hotel. The scores are based on responses to our feedback survey, which is sent automatically to every user after the completion of a hotel stay booked through Tablet Hotels. We receive responses every day, the scores change accordingly - in real-time.
This way we can be absolutely certain of the integrity of the rating process - on some travel websites, there is nothing preventing the General Manager from giving his own hotel a perfect score, or the concierge from across the street, posing as a dissatisfied guest, giving his competitor all zeros. You have probably seen questionable user reviews on other websites, whether flowery advertising copy written by fake guests, or vague negative attacks written anonymously. You will not see any of this on Tablet Hotels.
How does a hotel remain a Tablet Hotel?
We have selected nothing but the most unique and extraordinary properties from around the world, but circumstances at individual hotels can change quickly. Therefore it is up to our customers to inform us if one of our properties has taken a turn for the worse. The Tablet Hotels Meter works on a 20-point scale, and for a hotel to keep its place on Tablet Hotels, the magic number is 15.
This is not just an arbitrary figure; we have two years' worth of data, from past user feedback, and we have found that the hotels whose scores drop below 15 are those experiencing recurring problems, and guest detailed reports reflect the same serious concern, whether it be service, room quality, noise or something else.
The Tablet Hotels Meter will not display a score until we have had at least two customers rate the hotel. This way one person's unfortunate stay cannot carry too much weight. And once five guests have returned their verdicts, the rating becomes a more scientific measure of the opinion of the average guest. At this point, if the hotel's average overall score drops below 15, the hotel will be automatically removed from the site.
Your opinion really does count; in this case, it is the only thing keeping the hotels you visit on the site. On a more positive note, the hotels with top scores are featured in our "Tablet 10" lists. And as a side benefit, this system will encourage hotels to extend their best level of service to Tablet Hotels users - we turn every Tablet Hotels client into a reviewer!
This is a moderated forum; all hotel reviews and travel recommendations must follow the Tablet Hotels and Tablet Talk guidelines below. We will not publish a hotel review or a travel recommendation unless it is:
Original
Please don't quote from other sources or otherwise reprint material published elsewhere, including your own comments on other travel review sites.
Relevant to other travelers
This is not a forum for general political, ethical or religious opinions. Nor is it a place for questions or comments directed to property representatives, Tablet Inc. staff, or other Tablet Talk members - we encourage you to use private channels for such communications. It should go without saying that we don't want to see personal insults or language that a reasonable observer might deem offensive. And please keep your submissions current - no need to mention a trip that happened more than two years ago.
A personal opinion or recommendation
Hotel reviews are restricted to verified guests who booked their stays through TabletHotels.com. Likewise, travel recommendations must be based on first-hand experience. No recommendations or reviews written by owners or managers posing as guests, or by current or past employees, or second-hand hearsay from others. If your friend/cousin/neighbor has something to contribute then you should invite them to join the community so that they may share their opinions themselves.
We do not allow recommendations to be written based on incentives from property owners/management. Offering discounts or upgrades or other special treatment in exchange for reviews is very much against the rules, and any property found to be engaging in this sort of thing will be dealt with most unforgivingly.
Non-commercial
Comment spam is a serious problem, and we will reject even the most borderline cases. No commercial web address, e-mail addresses or contact information. No promotional material of any kind. We reserve the right to reject any URL for any reason.
Written with standard e-mail etiquette
This is a forum with a broad readership; don't assume that hotel owners in Milan and travel agents in Guangzhou are familiar with the latest slang and shorthand, or that typographic symbols will be rendered properly across all platforms. Please don't shout in ALL CAPS - in general, keep it readable. And for various boring technical reasons, HTML tags and most forms of text and paragraph formatting, even simple lists, will not survive the posting process.

Tablet Inc. reserves the right to remove any hotel review or travel recommendation at its sole discretion, for violation of the above guidelines or for any other reasons.
These reviews are posted exclusively by verified guests whose stays were booked through TabletHotels.com. We do encourage our clients to express their opinions, and what makes a hotel experience great is often something subjective, a matter of personal taste. At the same time, many of the hotels we list are extreme in one dimension or another, and are bound to disappoint somebody somewhere. These reviews are an excellent way to identify a hotel's particular quirks, and thereby avoid a poor hotel-guest match. But remember: if a hotel's overall customer rating falls lower than 15 out of 20, the hotel will be removed from our listings.
The opinions expressed in these reviews are solely those of our clients; the opinions expressed in any hotel management responses are solely those of the hotels themselves. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed within the reviews, and we are not affiliated with any of the hotels in question. We reserve the right to remove any of the review or management response at our discretion.
