If there’s one thing we can thank the Greeks for (apart from the whole Western civilization thing) it’s the concept of an over-the-top deluxe seaside hotel. Typically whitewashed, sprawling, and scenic, the archetypal Greek resort is perched on an outcropping or promontory, offering unparalleled views of that deep Aegean blue.

Santa Marina Resort is in this vein, and adds nothing particularly novel to the formula—rather, it distinguishes itself simply in being the finest example Mykonos has to offer. This is the sort of place guests develop a habit for, returning year after year, arriving by complimentary airport transfer, limousine, or the hotel’s own helicopter.

And sprawling it is, taking up some twenty acres on a private peninsula overlooking the Bay of Ornos and the Mediterranean. Rooms and suites are expansive and opulent, especially the monstrous Presidential Villa, with a private gym, sauna and jacuzzi, and dedicated full-time help—but even the simple double rooms are modern and deluxe. One major draw is the spa, well equipped with fitness facilities and Phytomer beauty treatments; and children are well looked after, with their own dedicated pool and playground.

As for the island of Mykonos itself, it’s a bit of a mixed bag: if seaside paradise is yoour thing, then the beaches won’t disappoint—though more cosmopolitan charms are plentiful as well, with the numerous restaurants and clubs of the city center just three kilometers away.
