South Beach's fashionable Shore Club is a magnet for the jet set and for the entertainment and fashion elite, whose high heels glide over those much-remarked-upon concrete floors — and why not? This is a place with all the hipster cachet of the other uber-modern nightclub hotels, with an added bonus: a hint of real, substantive luxury, from 400-thread-count bedding and massive bathrooms (and Molton Brown bath products) to the recent addition of some double-paned glass to keep noise to a tolerable level.
The design, by David Chipperfield, is close to the edge, but unlike some fashionable hotels, this one is unlikely to need a redesign every season. Guest rooms have a bit more personality than the standard white-on-cream décor, and plenty of space to boot. Suites have striking ocean views, and some rooms have classic poolside baclonies. Eight two-story private cabanas are available, and true recluses can spring for the Beach House, with private gated pool and private beach access, or the Penthouse Suite — 6000 square feet spread over three floors with rooftop pool, private steam room and sauna, and a 360-degree view of South Beach and the ocean. Services across the hotel include 24-hour butler service and a complement of beach services, such as beach-side dining or massage.
Miami's first Nobu restaurant calls the Shore Club home, and Skybar's deep red poolside club is one of Miami's most in-demand nightspots — keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper, or a private type. This is no hotel for the reclusive or the retiring — the Shore Club is for those who like their luxe with a side of nightlife.

What I liked:
Nothing.
What the hotel could do better:
Forget about the Shore Club. It has been in steady decline for years and this last stay was just that. My last stay. The service is truly horrible, the rooms are falling apart and the poolside parties mean that you can only sleep between 3am and 7.

What I liked:
Service, location and the beach.
What the hotel could do better:
The outrageous party scene which bordered on obnoxious. The prices were pretty obscene for mediochre food as well.

What I liked:
The public spaces are fantastic. Love the pool, the beach, the bar, the restaurants. The staff are also very friendly. Good location, too.
What the hotel could do better:
Make sure you get a room with altitude. The public spaces, while extremely fun when you're participating, are very loud and run very late. Unless you're up high, you'll have a hard time falling asleep.
The rooms, too are a bit harsh. Everything is concrete, and there is almost no decor. Certainly nothing to soften the rooms, aside from the voile curtains. The layout is thoughtful, and if you're a modernist, you'll like the minimalism, but there is again the problem of noise, no matter what floor you're on. Sound echoes off the concrete, as do vibrations. When housekeeping were making the beds in the morning, I felt every piece of furniture moved in the other rooms.
