Not at all your average safari camp, even by today’s haute-luxury standards — Singita may be deep in the bush, at the edge of Kruger National Park, but there’s very little that’s rough about it. Split into two camps, each made up of a pair of sleek modernist lodges, Singita is as urbane and luxurious as the finest city hotels; add to that the splendid seclusion and sublime natural setting and it’s easy to see why many rate it as one of the world’s most remarkable getaways.

Two lodges, Ebony and Boulders, sit along the banks of the Sand River, in the Sabi Sands Reserve; both are posh and palatial, built of local stones and timber, with colonial furnishings and indigenous artifacts alongside contemporary pieces and splashes of bold color. Another two sit farther afield, Lebombo a modernist, minimalist space, huge windows open to views of the distant horizon, and Sweni a dark and rustic hideout, distinctly African in style, on stilts alongside the Sweni river.

Though it may be tempting simply to remain in the comfort of the lodge all day, it would be churlish — Singita’s lodges are surrounded by vast and teeming wildlife reserves, offering once-in-a-lifetime safari opportunities. And at the end of the day Singita’s world-class service is waiting, as are its world-class facilities, including top-flight spa treatments and fine South African dining with a 35,000-bottle wine cellar.

Hotel Policies:
