A balé is a traditional Balinese pavilion, and it’s a fitting (if understated) name for this hotel, comprised as it is of twenty-six pavilions along the beach at Nusa Dua. They’re anything but traditional, though; sharp, clean lines, sleek dark woods and Zen-inspired furnishings add up to interiors that might not look out of place in Milan—though, frankly, the sheer spaciousness of these rooms and their king-size beds might give the game away, not to mention the sight of the Indian Ocean through the pavilion’s open wall.
Pavilions are surrounded by sandstone walls for privacy, and come with private pools and a bale bengong, an open-air pillared veranda with a daybed for cooling off in the breeze. Outdoor showers and baths are a must, of course, and though physical comforts are emphasized, there’s no forced disconnection from the outside world—satellite TV, internet connections and direct dial phones will keep you in the loop.
A recent renovation leaves the Balé’s public spaces looking sharp, with a bit more emphasis on the social life — an expanded lobby leads to a new second restaurant, Bliss, to join the hotel’s fine-dining venue Faces. And the main pool’s been expanded as well, adding more deck space for a bit of daytime lounging or a poolside drink. Repeat guests find changes in-room as well: redesigned bathrooms make more space for guests, and the gardens have been closed in for added privacy.
Essentially, it’s like owning an ultra-modern private residence—total privacy, total serenity, and every modern convenience. This one, though, comes with 24-hour room service, as well as world-class spa treatments and a fitness center. Then again, your house may have all those things, but if so, it’s probably your butler who's reading this aloud to you right now….
The Balé cannot accommodate children under 16 years old.

What I liked:
The modern clean-lined decor and the complimentary use of private jacuzzi and sauna rooms. The personal pool for each villa. The driver service and driver staff.
What the hotel could do better:
Get mosquito nets for the bed/outdoor lounge. Train front desk/concierge staff to be more informative and savvy about restaurants, points of interest, etc.

What I liked:
Apart from the beautiful, high quality designer villa with stunning pool the service was also truly exceptional. In fact, I have stayed at many top hotels worldwide and the service here tops the lot (professional, attentive without being overbearing, friendly / smiling staff who went out of their way to ensure the stay was excellent). Food was great with lots of healthy options. Main pool area and spa also beautiful and good location also. In summary a fantastic experience and recommend highly if you are looking for a private, very well maintained, cool getaway with welcoming staff who will look after you very well. We will return.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing.
