India’s got more than its fair share of grand old palace hotels and world-beating business hotels. But in the area of inventive, artistic little boutiques, it’s got a way to go. A place like The Farm, on the fringes of the city of Jaipur, is a signpost marking the way forward.
Then again, it’s not exactly the sort of formula that can be repeated. The Farm is largely constructed from spare parts and salvaged furniture from the family’s old palace, which was dismantled in advance of a major dam-building project. Here everything from the palace’s old doors and windows to the reclaimed wooden beams and bolts and screws are pressed into service. But the result is anything but a carbon copy.
It’s small, for one thing, just six executive rooms and eight freestanding suites, complete with plunge pools and open-air jacuzzis. Each one is visually unique, designed with a sense of whimsy to accompany the clean modern design. They’re positively sedate, though, in comparison with the hotel’s common spaces, liberally festooned with artworks both modern and traditional.
There’s plenty to do, from yoga and massage to outdoor adventures and cooking and painting classes, all in a lively social atmosphere. Meanwhile you’re just minutes from Jaipur, and all its historic charms. The fact that it’s one-of-a-kind is, of course, what makes it special — but we can’t help wishing for more.

What I liked:
I loved the seclusion and relaxed atmosphere. The owners Ritu and Surya seem to have a wonderful understanding of what it is too relax. Just the right amount of attentive service and the feeling you are visiting a friends home, not a hotel.
What the hotel could do better:
Do not change a thing!

The food and service were excellent.
Also the ambience of the hotel makes for a very relaxing stay. Nothing was too much trouble.
What the hotel could do better:
Maybe some solar heating for the pool in the cooler periods.

What I liked:
The owners are lovely
The food was great
The staff are very attentive
The sculpture and layout around the rooms is brilliant - common room amazing
What the hotel could do better:
The room we stayed in was somwwhat shabby, but not in the shabby-chic way. It looked and felt dirty
There was NO HOT WATER - we were advised to run the shower for 5 mins, we ran it for 30 and it was still v,tepid. No chance of a bath.
There were constant power cuts so we did not sleep well, too hot, then too cold
Sadly I have to say it was wey overpriced vs the tablet norm, I was really excited to see this place from the pictures and there were some very positive aspects, but I feel they guys need some honest feedback, Its simply not up to Scratch. On the same holiday we stayed at 2 other tablet hotels, The Manor in Delhi and The Raas in Jodphur. Both cheaper and significantly better .
