The House Hotel Bosphorus

Salhane Sokak No: 1, Ortaköy

Istanbul, Turkey

Style: Cutting-Edge

Atmosphere: Lively

23 Rooms

The design hotel is alive and well on the shores of the Bosphorus, where the Autoban design partnership mixes ancient Ottoman influences with the clean lines and luxe materials of contemporary European practice. The third in their House Hotel series stands near the site of the owners’ original House Café, the establishment that inaugurated the House brand’s reign as Istanbul’s current authority on modish modern hospitality. From here the waters of the Bosphorus are just yards away, and from the top-floor suites the view spans a large proportion of this sprawling city, from the Bosphorus Bridge all the way down to the Hagia Sophia.

The views from the lower floors are less expansive, but scarcely less impressive; most of these twenty rooms have balconies directly facing over the water. The views are far from the only visual stimulation to be found, for the interiors, in the crisp, neutral-toned Autoban house style — pun fully intended — are as stylish as any in the city. And the centerpiece, in this as in the other House hotels, is the capacious first-floor lounge; while the private spaces are fine enough, these social spaces are a House specialty.
