Let’s say you’re a fan of Vienna’s Bauhaus-luxe Levante Parliament, but you’re looking to trade a full-featured luxury-hotel experience for a more residential vibe. It just so happens that you’re in luck. Five minutes’ walk to the north is the Levante Laudon, which, like the Parliament, is an architectural classic put to modern use — in this case a Biedermeier residential building converted into an apartment-style hotel.
It’s outside Vienna’s central ring, but not by much — this spot west of the city center isn’t exactly sleepy, but it does lend itself well to this kind of semi-private living, with close access to all the city’s cultural and commercial destinations, but without the wandering throngs of camera-happy tourists.
The Laudon’s one- and two-bedroom apartments come with all the contemporary hotel standards, plus kitchenettes, so self-catering is very much a live option. An option, not a necessity — for if the mood strikes for a bit of luxury-hotel pomp and circumstance, or just a bite, a drink and a dip in the pool, the Laudon’s guests find the Levante Parliament’s full complement of services is open to them as well.

What I liked:
Excellent central location & price
What the hotel could do better:
Lots: the basin in the bathroom didn't drain at all, there were small ants in the bathroom, 2 lightbulbs didn't work, the toilet in the already minimal lobby are didn't work, the elevator was so small you could hardly fit even 1 person + 1 piece of luggage

What I liked:
It turned out to be an apartment hotel with no lobby staff or services after 20:00. This was a surprise but not a problem. We loved the spacious and well appointed apartment in a very convenient location.
