The Pelham is a fine alternative to the flash and preciousness of some of London’s more overtly designed boutique hotels — it can be exhausting to spend time in a place that is striving so hard to be cool, and in contrast, it’s utterly refreshing to stay somewhere a little more restrained, a little more secure in itself.
The vibe is plainly country house, transplanted to busy South Kensington: an idea which in itself implies some level of gimmickry, but is in fact carried off with a natural ease. It’s no country house theme park—the rustic touches are judiciously applied, mixing contemporary pieces with antiques, and steering well clear of 19th-century fussiness.
Bedrooms are individually designed (must be an obscure London regulation) but all are richly decorated in a similar grand yet tasteful style. Modern equipment abounds as well, from broadband internet to mobile phones, and the television — long the bane of hotel room decorators — is discreetly hidden. Expect marble bathrooms, of course, but with added charms like heated towel bars and Molton Brown amenities.
The location is easily half the appeal, as the Victoria & Albert and Natural History museums are close by, as are Harrods and the Knightsbridge shops. This convenient situation makes the Pelham’s bar and restaurant a popular stop not just for tourists but for Londoners as well, and if you haven’t seen enough of him already you may spy the likes of Hugh Grant stopping in for a meal. South Kensington tube station is steps away, which means relatively easy access to Heathrow and anywhere else — hard to believe this country charmer is so close to the heart of the city.
How to get there:
The Pelham Hotel is just steps from the South Kensington tube station. If you’re arriving from Heathrow Airport the most convenient transfer option to central London is the Heathrow Express train, which leaves Heathrow Airport every 15 minutes and takes 15 minutes to arrive at Paddington Station. One-way fares are available from £18 and round-trip fares from £32. By black cab, The Pelham Hotel is approximately a 45 minute ride from Heathrow Airport (depending on traffic) and can cost upwards of £50.

What I liked:
The room was a very good size, and the bathroom was huge. Decor was lovely, and the location was literally across the street from the Tube stop.
What the hotel could do better:
Their re-modeled "modern" bathrooms have those glass half-doors that don't cover the whole shower. It's almost impossible to take a shower without drenching the whole bathroom. We'd take our toiletries out of the room before bathing.

What I liked:
The staff, ambience, decor, comfort of the hotel were all really lovely and excellent and wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend this excellent hotel and the value is reasonable too. But the main thing about this hotel is it's location - surely one of the best located in London. Superb spot.
What the hotel could do better:
Is it really too much to ask to be able to make oneself a cup of tea in a room upon waking without having to pay £4 or ring room service? Just add it to the price if you want to make the money out of it - but allow your guests this simple privilege away from home when travelling. Our room (212) was really quite noisy too because of the air-con, boiler system. Not sure how this could be bettered.

What I liked:
The decor, the ambiance, the attitude of the staff, pretty much everything. The concierge was particularly helpful. Also it's position was very convenient for retaurants, buses, the tube.
What the hotel could do better:
Nothing, had a wonderful stay!
