New Delhi's Taj Mahal Hotel is a local landmark, a top-class international luxury hotel, located in Lutyens' Delhi, the historic city center that is home to India's senior government officials as well as a number of millionaires and CEOs. The architecture in this district is historical and unique, and the meticulous landscaping means the city center enjoys temperatures several degrees cooler than the surrounding sprawl.
In the past, New Delhi has played the staid businessman to Mumbai's Bollywood starlet, but the recent economic boom has meant an influx of capital and a growing population of the young and rich. The nightlife still leaves something to be desired compared to Mumbai, but it is catching up, and those of a less hedonistic bent will enjoy the sense of history — the city is rich with old-fashioned Mughal architecture, and cows still wander the streets alongside the shiny foreign cars.
This is the place to stay if you are a foreign dignitary, or just wish to be treated as one. The Taj Mahal is a full-featured luxury business hotel, with top-notch conference facilities and a host of leisure services, including a pool, spa, tennis courts, and access to Delhi Golf Club. The restaurants and bars are among Luytens' finest, and the Grill Room, on the rooftop, has a spectacular view over the neigborhood's picturesque buildings and gardens.

What I liked:
excellent location. got upgraded to the club room which means you get a private sitting area with wi fi, food and drinks (during certain hours). definitely makes a more comfortable stay. i have stayed here on other trips and the rooms are certainly better than the standard rooms as well.
excellent service, impeccable to say the least. the taj gets a 10/10 for service
excellent location, great facilities, and the common areas are also in great condition.
wasabi and ricks are both well known in the city and a great place to eat and have a drink respectively
What the hotel could do better:
my biggest gripe with this hotel is that it badly needs a renovation. the rooms are very tired looking. the only thing that brings me back is when the taj is significantly cheaper then the other two big competitors the leela and the imperial (my personal top 2 in delhi). if they refurbed their rooms this would be the best hotel in the city otherwise i still place it in my top 5
oh, and lastly they need to get rid of paying for inroom wifi. its not a nominal amount and if your staying a few days the amount you can spend can be very annoying. i cant recall but i think its around 40usd a day or more.

The service was excellent!
What the hotel could do better:
It's more of a business hotel for me. The rooms are not very big.
