Recently acquired and renovated by Portugal’s Tivoli hotel group, the imposing tower embodies the Tivoli brand’s commitment to stylish modern luxury, without feeling overly formal or humorless.

The interior of the lobby, a cavernous, glass-ceilinged space surrounded by greenery and furnished with sleek white sofas and black vehicular-looking chairs, is a decent indicator of things to come. The 220 guest rooms are basically divided into Collection and Classic rooms, with the former occupying the upper floors and offering separate living rooms and the expanded amenities of a spacious suite. The décor is modern urban five-star, heavy on the beige and dark wood, light on any sort of traditional Brazilian accents. Wi-fi and flatscreen TVs are standard, and bathrooms are well-stocked with high-end toiletries and Trussardi robes. The Presidential Suite deserves a mention, as it sprawls across the entire 22nd floor and boasts a private fitness center and sauna.

The hotel doesn’t skimp on wellness options for the rest of its guests either, offering a fourth-floor wellness center by Banyan Tree, the legendary Thai spa brand. Innovative fine dining is similarly prioritized, with Michelin-starred Catalan chef Sergi Arola’s inspired take on tapas and Mediterranean cuisine, and more casual meals sat the Bistro Tivoli, a relaxed French-Brazilian fusion affair.
