Town Hall Hotel & Apartments — that sounds central, doesn’t it? Not quite; it’s in Bethnal Green, considerably eastward of London’s traditional hospitality centers. It’s a much less unlikely location than it would have been a few short years ago, however, and a conveniently placed Tube station assures easy access to central London.

Bethnal Green these days, of course, has plenty to recommend it, and one shudders at the thought of what a night at Town Hall might cost were it located in the West End. A modest bit of commuting is the non-pecuniary price you pay for rooms that are spacious, apartments that are downright sprawling, and services — not just a spa but an indoor pool as well — that would set you back thousands at the center of the city.

The interiors are spacious enough that the Town Hall is free to embrace a certain spare and minimal contemporary style, the sort of thing that could come off a bit like a space capsule if these rooms weren’t so generously sized. At this size (and inside this historic neoclassical building) the effect is stylish rather than stark. And while Bethnal Green is somewhat peripheral, it’s certainly no suburb — there’s no shortage of city culture here, including more than a few fine restaurants, two of which, the buzzing Viajante and the intimate Corner Room, happen to be on premises. If it’s your first time in London, or if you’re here for the museums and theatre, then perhaps this location isn’t your very first choice — but with a little local knowledge, or just the confidence to explore, Town Hall becomes a very viable option.

How to get there:
Town Hall Hotel & Apartments is a 6 minute walk from the Bethnal Green tube station. If you're arriving from Heathrow Airport the most convenient transfer option to central London is The Heathrow Express Train which leaves Heathrow Airport every 15 minutes and takes 15 minutes to arrive at Paddington Station. One way fares are available from £18 and roundtrip fares from £32. By black cab, Town Hall Hotel is approximately a 50 minute ride from Heathrow Airport (depending on traffic) and can cost upwards of £60.

About Town Hall Hotel & Apartments: Town Hall Hotel & Apartments is a luxury boutique hotel in London's Bethnal Green neighborhood. The hotel is literally the old Town Hall for the Bethnal Green borough of East London. After its political past, it was used for multiple major film sets before becoming the wonderful hotel it is today. The hotel is proud to house Nuno Mendes' Viajante restaurant as well as an indoor pool & spa.
