La nourriture excellente, les lits (futons) très confortables, les bains thermaux
The good was amasing. The bathd aswell.
The location is truly fantastic. In fact, the pictures do not do it justice. The hotel is surrounded by breathtaking Japanese trees and gardens. In fact, they own a mini rest house on the other side of the river (a 2 min walk) that overlooks the river and has a stunning view of the green mountains. It's incredibly peaceful. You could stay at this place for days. On top of it all, the food was fabulous. I don't think I could stomach 12-course kaiseki every evening for days but it was truly delicious.
This is Japanese hospitality at its best. Traditional tatami rooms, private dining and a mineral hot spring that soaks the aches and pains away all contributed to a memorable stay. Our dinner maid brought an English translation book with the courses to identify some of the more unfamiliar dishes, which were an experience of their own. The attention was exceptional. Everyone on the staff escorted us to the door when we departed.
