  1. “This is a fabulous hotel. The layout of the hotel, the rooms and the restaurant were great and the staff really made the stay amazing. Despite the monsoon weather it was a a fantastic break and currently trying to organise another trip. I would highly recommend it.”

  2. “Everything, from the air-conditioned car which picked us up from the airport (the driver handed out cold, lemon-scented face towels and local advice) to the seclusion of the rooms and the amazing fresh food at every meal. The first night, we were escorted to our garden pool villa and asked which pillows and even choice of soaps we preferred during our stay, which set the tone for our six days—the attention to detail was impressive, unflagging but never forced. We loved the outdoor bathroom with shower and huge bath with luxury oils and lotions, and were untroubled by mosquitos because we brought our own spray from home. (Coils are provided, which work fine.) It was amazing to throw open our bedroom door in the mornings and lounge outside on the couch reading, or take a morning swim; if your budget allows, it's worth having your own pool just for the pleasure of jumping in after dinner or whenever you like. It felt like an oasis we came back to every day. The overall feel was of luxury rather than glitz, from the black-tiled infinity pool to the open-sided library with free internet access. The restaurant was fantastic, from the breakfast with buffet and hot dishes, both Thai and western, to yellow curry dinners with a great wine list. Lunch was our favorite meal—we sat by the pool and had fresh local salads, fish cakes and fruit shakes. Try the Samui Passion capirinhia, especially at the ubiquitous happy hour. The beach isn't the best in Thailand, but the sand is like sugar and we took the free kayak every afternoon and paddled around a few coves to another beach which had clearer water. The gym was well-equipped. But the best part was the service, which at times bordered on over-the-top (even the gardeners drop their tools to greet you) but was unfailingly polite and charming. We have already started thinking about when we can get back to SALA; it is romantic but not cheesy, and we miss it.”

  4. “This hotel was beautiful from the simple, chic, rooms to the stunning pools (I esp. loved the black plunge pool surrounded by water lilies!) and poolside/beachside restaurant. The service starting from the moment you book at their hotel. The hotel sends and email for requests of amenities to ensure that your stay is easy and everything is prepared to your liking from the moment you get there. And every staff-person is so friendly from the moment they pick you up from the airport with their cool scented towels till you leave. The restaurant was also very nice with excellent food, esp. the desserts (try the coconut ice cream!). My favorite part was the bathroom design with the open outdoor shower/bath in the spacious bathroom and balcony. A great hotel for every type of person who is looking to relax in a beautiful, serene place.”

  5. “We stayed in a garden pool villa, the room and pool were incredible. Complete privacy. It was my partners 30th birthday and the restaurant arranged for us to eat dinner on a table they had placed in the swimming pool, which was very special. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, service overall was excellent.”

  6. “Srvice, food and surprisingly good wine list. We tried a few other restaurants but the hotel restaurant was easily the best in respect of simple well prepared anf flavoursome food and for Thailand a well conceived and reasonably priced wine list. The service everywhere in the hotel was exceptionally good none moreso than Oom in the restaurant”

  8. “The pool/beach area of the hotel is amazing. The poolside/beachside service is also amazing. The rooms were small, but well appointed with lots of open airiness if you wanted or super fast and quiet a/c if you wanted that, instead.”

  12. “Secluded hotel. Beautiful little beach with water-sports, where you do not get harassed to purchase goods, enchanting pool/lounge area. Great staff! I came down with food poising on the last day and the staff let me check out at 6pm, no extra charge, as we had a late boat ride out to another island.”
