  1. “The location is terrific.Cool neighborhood. It's a minute walk from the Farringdon tube station. So if you want to save a bit of cash on a taxi, getting to the hotel by train is easy. There are many terrific restaurants nearby. The hotel is charming. There was a huge, claw-footed bathtub in the bath room which was nice after a long day exploring the city on a cold winter day. The staff was friendly and helpful. The TV in our room didn't work but we didn't bother asking for help fixing it. I'm sure the friendly staff would have helped us out on that if we'd asked.”

  5. “I stop in London at least three times a year on business. I have friends who live in Clerkenwell so I was familiar with the location -- off the usual tourist path, near historic sites, plenty of GREAT food nearby. For those with business in the City, the hotel is very close to many banks, law firms, etc. -- for tourists, you are near St. Pauls, the Tate Modern, St. Batholemew Church, etc. etc. The hotel is is an old and charming building, and rooms are cozy with comfortable beds and lovely old furniture. The bathrooms are "vintage" (or reproduction vintage) which means great big lovely bathtubs with handheld showers, but also good plumbing and nice Aveda products. It is true there is no lift, but a porter will help you up the stairs with your luggage. The little garden off the lounge is a particularly nice touch (even in January I appreciated a place to sit outside). As other reviewers have said, breakfast (brought to your room) includes very good french-press coffee and breads/pastries -- there is also a limited room service menu throughout the day and evening. This was my first stay but I have added the the Rookery to my list of favorite boutique hotels in London list.”
