“really it's a motel 6 with orange sinks and cool magazines in the room. the price was great so that saved it for me. seems like you're trying so hard to be hip you forgot to the basics of being a really good hotel. the live model at the front is unique for sure and fun, but how about a decent bar of soap in the rooms, eh.”

“I always try to stay at least a couple of nights at the Standard Hollywood when I am in LA. So far it has not failed to impress me being fresh and happening and superb value for money - the location, the low key modern design, the excellent service, the friendly staff and the guests!Not much I would want to improve, it would perhaps be that hot poolside waitress from my first stay some years back. Where did she go? ;-)Looking forward to be back again soon.”

“the worst thing about my room was it smelled extremely musty. i left the sliding glass door open all day and night and the musty smell did not change at all. i went to my business partner's room and it was exactly the same. there was no cool air only a fan on the a.c unit. it was uncomfortable w/ no a.c. i would not stay here again.carla and lacey by the pool gave us wonderful service w/ lunch and drinks!”

“This hotel would have been an excellent place to stay if I were still in my twenties and looking for a "hot-spot" to pary. However I would not recommend this hotel for business travelers or those with families as it is VERY noisy until past midnight every night. Additionally, the rooms are a bit too trendy for their own good - I was staying for a few nights and found it to be inconvenient that there are no drawers in the room whatsoever and that the closet space was shared with a refrigerator and snack display.”

“The Standard in West Hollywood had a great, hip, laid back atmosphere. The staff was friendly in that just there when you need them kind of way. Nothing extra fancy about the room but we appreciated the special touches that were there. They did a great job making sure we were treated with kid gloves on the weekend nights when the lobby was a scene- gave special attention to our needs. The restaurant have a superb breakfast and friendly staff. Would've appreciated a room with a better view given that we were there a full 7 days.”

“I found The Standard Hotel to be, to my suprise, very musty and damp, with most of the hotel appearing to be a poorly renovated, old, Sunset Strip, motel. The most dissapointing "feature" of the hotel was the extremely loud, and obnoxious night life. Given the age and poor renovation of the hotel, all nightlife is easily heard from the the third and fourth floor. On the positive side, they have a tremendous resturant, as well as impecible service. It was nice to find young, hip twenty/thirty-somethings operating every aspect of the hotel, with impecable care and attention.”

“This hotel sounded much much better than what it really is. It looks tremendously old and not at all with the level of the hotels recommended by Tablet Hotels all over the world. It just doesn't deserve to be at TH's site. The people at the hotel think that just because of its location everything else comes in automatic and this is just not true.”
