  1. “The Elsie Dewolfe room was really beautiful but the lighting was totally inadequate, the heavy Victorian shades obscuring the already dim bulbs and I seriously missed having a bathtub! Also, the room service for breakfast was very pleasant but inefficient. Everytime we ordered we had to send the waiter back several times before they got it right - as in no sugar, etc. On the positive side I had a clogged bathroom sink on arriving and the hotel got a plumber to come afterhours and fix it which was much appreciated. The maid service was excellent. The concierges were very nice and helpful.”

  3. “This inn feels like an old country house, with a dignified but relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are large and full of well worn antiques but there's an odor of old smoke, or perhaps burnt candles that was pervasive.”

  10. “Great theme. The location was really nice given the ambience of the street and its proximity to Union Square. The room was spacious and, though the furnishings were not old, reminded me of a different era. The staff was very friendly and guided me to a truly excellent dining experience at Casa Mono.”

  12. “I liked the original antique furniture and the room layout (small but not just a closet as is often the case in NYC) that included a nice sitting area.”
