nice, small, personal

While many Parisian hotels offer rooms not much larger than the bed, I didn't find that to be the case at The Hotel Keppler. Thanks to an upgrade from my TabletPlus membership, my room felt like a suite, with enough room for a small writing desk, King bed and a nice bathroom. The decor is a combination of deco and Empire style, with the bathroom walls done in a padded black vinyl---how cool is that! Many of the rooms are on an interior courtyard, but there seemed to be plenty of light and no street noise. The public space was very attractive, with more of a lounge feeling, and there was a small bar to serve drinks before or after dinner. The hotel is not large, so the check-in doubled as a concierge, which worked out fine. The staff were all very helpful and not intrusive. I noticed that while I checked in with one member of the staff and asked for some assistance with reservations, I came downstairs on my way out and was greeted by another member of the staff who seemed to know who I was and what I needed. If you think about it, that kind of a hand-off is pretty impressive. The breakfast was fabulous, so I was glad that I paid the extra 20 Euros to have it included in my room rate. Anyone reading this should do the same unless you really hate fresh croissants, yogurt and fruit, French coffee, five kinds of local cheese, eggs and charcuterie. Although down in the basement, it was light and airy because the owners had installed a rainforest of plantings on the other side of a glass wall onto which you looked out. The location is excellent, just two blocks south of the Champs Elysees (roughly behind the Louis Vuitton Mega store), down a few streets from the L'Arc de Triomphe, and a short stroll from the Seine. I would walk past the George V on my way home at night without the slightest bit of envy. I even used the Paris Metro to get around, and walked to different Bistros for dinner each night.

This hotel is a jewel box - well done in every respect. Pretty, elegant, outstanding service, most practical amenities (good dresser and closet space, excellent shower, good size in-room safe, good mini bar, good towels and bedding).

It was a good hotel, in a great location. The room was nice (we booked a standard room and got upgraded to a classic one). Not a big fan of the colours of the room (yellow-black) but it was clean, cosy and the hotel is very nice. Definately a nice hotel for long weekends in Paris!

I reviewed this hotel as well after my first stay there in May - and if anything, it was better this time. Everything about the service and details throughout the hotel are so well done. And, the rates for the quality of this hotel are phenomenal. Have stayed in many hotels in Paris and it's not easy to find one that's impressive all around.
