great public space

Breakfast in the Clift restaurant was greatly overpriced and the service was pathetic.
-
I found the hotel to be clean, however, the rooms and bathrooms were extremely small.

Our room was a bit small and the view was horrible for the price we paid. Also, we felt like the staff could have gone even more out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Disappointed.stayed at Morgan Hotels under Schrager ownership. Attention to detail seems tSsomething lost w/MHG like attention to detail at 500/nite. room not up to par. Luggage stored/lost did not get to room until late after check in. Staff said they would send us something complimentary. Never did. Requested quiet room. given room that connected to next room via door. Very loud. staff should know Carpert dirty, lights broken,Phone system antiquated. moved/upgraded to new room next day which was better. voucher for breakfast on day of checkout??

The Clift hotel is an absolute delight, from the kooky grandeur of reception to the brilliance of the Redwood room and Asia de Cuba restaurant; the public spaces are of a high quality. Our room was a studio suite which gave us more than enough room to feel like we were living in San Francisco for the 5 days, rather than holed up in a hotel room. Location is excellent for the first time visitor as you are centrally placed to get south to Market Street and to SF MOMA, amble over to Union Square for some high end shopping, or jump on one of the street cars and head north to Fisherman's Wharf.

We had a fire alarm at 3:00AM our first night which was not a pleasant experience. The TV in our room was very small and in an odd location. The bathroom was too small for two people. The sink was only 24" wide. For the price, the hotel's designer seems to have been more concerned with a particular design esthetic than the comfort of the guest.

Room needs to upgrade their TV to a flatscreen and include some sort of iPod or iHome alarm system so i can use my iPod, main thing is the TV upgrade to a flatscreen system

The bathrooms were a big disappointment (bland and poor water pressure) as was the chambre maid (as in the room was never tidied up properly) - Another example of service disappointment was when we ordered champagn and strawberries, did not drink it immediately, the next night the bottle is still in the bucket, ice is water and glasses were taken with no alternatives glasses in the mini bar.overall a very nice hotel, excellent location for shopping, but not up to the expectations i had.

Well located hotel; the bar is a joy (because they didn't let Starck do too much to it).

Love this place, I always stay here when in SF-- the location is very convenient, the staff are pleasant and the rooms comfortable. A lot of guests complain about the size of rooms and the bathrooms, but it's an older property and the quality of design and comfort trumps scale in my opinion-- the rooms are quiet, serene, and the beds super-comfortable!
