Trendy restaurant with an elite clientele, including Angelina Jolie and Liz Hurley. Rahul Akerkar's restaurant has a chic ambiance and great international cuisine. There's something for everyone, from lobster and shallot risotto to tamarind beef salad to tuna.
The Le Gray Hotel has become one of the key social hotspots for the entire middle-eastern jet set in Beirut. On the hotel roof, next to a glass swimming pool, there is a gourmet restaurant with an extensive wine cellar (more than 200 wines) and a generously-proportioned terrace with a view of the legendary Downtown quarter. On the menu: characterful Asian fusion, but also good old British cuisine – for example, breakfast offerings include Londoners’ ‘usual’, eggs royal. Begin your meal with the oysters or smoked salmon. For your main course, sample the sea bass baked in banana leaves or genuine Japanese marbled steaks. Sir Gordon is a great fan of the potato, which is why the menu boasts so many potato-based side dishes. I would advise you to take your digestif in the ThreeSixty bar on the floor above, from where you will have a 360-degree view over the city. Give the eponymous ‘Martini 3-60’ cocktail a try.
Rooftop restaurant that offers fabulous food and even more fabulous views. Request a table overlooking the famous Mohammah Al-Amin Mosque while munching on calamari and rib-eye and sipping some local wine.
