Uluwatu, a temple located in the village of the same name, is one of Bali's six directional temples. Many monkeys reside near the temple, which visitors are often entertained by but must watch out that the monkeys do not steal their belongings.

It is beautiful, especially at sunset. Do take the monkey warning seriously, though. A monkey came up behind my husband & snatched the glasses off off his face! A man with a big stick had offered to keep the monkeys away for $5, which we declined. Not spending the $5 cost us $700 to get the glasses replaced in Tokyo, our next stop. (That was another adventure in itself!)
