Even if you don't care about art the Richard Meier–designed Getty is a sight worth seeing. And needless to say, if you do care about art, then so much the better.

The Getty Center's collection of Western art is displayed against various architecture and outdoor views.

Know for its high quality works, The Getty constantly obtains and showcases stunning pieces of art.

The decent (though somewhat uneven) permanent collection can’t outshine the setting, which is really why most people go. Gorgeous architecture. Stunning views. Parking reservations required. Tip: Park in the lot on Barrington Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, and take the bus (60 cents!).

View one of the most important art collections in the world and take lunch outdoors to overlook the sculpture garden and views of all of LA and the Pacific at the Getty Center.

If you have never visited the Getty Museum, with its spectacular hilltop location in NW Los Angeles, this is a must see for anyone who is interested in the European fine and decorative arts of the last several hundred years. No admission fee is required, though parking is $15. This is just a 15-20 minute drive from the hotel.

A bit of real culture in the cultural desert of LA. Don't go there on a Monday though
-
A little bit of a drive from Manhattan Beach, but a spectacular setting for what has emerged as a world-class museum.
