Continental - New French cuisine that’s filled with fresh local surprises. Chef and co-owner John Besh makes each dish with attention to detail with exceptional creativity. A little pricey but well worth it.
Chef John Besh is a local legend around here, revered for his cooking but also for his commitment to the city. During Katrina, he served rice and beans to the hungry from his flat-bottom boat. You can feel his personality through his home-style food. From the generously priced ($20) prix-fixe lunch, to the sampled specials like local crawfish and sheepshead fish. The service is outstanding and not all pretentious, as one might expect from a James Beard–recognized restaurant.
The epitomy of creative cuisine. Art expressed in food. The service is divinity. The overall experience...Wow.Our new favorite in NOLA.
August doesn't just serve a delicious meal (chef John Besh), but has a beautiful setting in an old building in downtown New Orleans. The old chandeliers are gorgeous and the decor in general is "old New Orleans" without being hokey. This is a great place to get dressed up for.
