Think hip-hunting cottage, this New American/Game restaurant is very popular. It’s eccentric comfort-food is consistently delicious. They do not take reservations for parties less than 6 people.

This restaurant, reminiscent of a hunting lodge, fuses American and English cuisine to make a delicious combination. Amazing artichoke dip, although the almond soda, cinnamon lemonade, and 5 cheese macaroni are all very delicious! Great atmosphere for a mini-escape while in NYC.

Freemans is like an escape to the countryside—to a place where the local hipsters gather around antique wooden tables to drink wine and dine on wild boar and whole roasted trout underneath assorted taxidermy including moose and elk heads. Located on a discreet alleyway off the Bowery, this hush-hush eatery has quickly become the place du jour for downtown scene-makers with its affordable menu, hunting lodge décor, and laid back staff.

Fabulous bar/restaurant just down the road from the Bowery.

Cadre très original au fonds d'une petite cour pour prendre un (bon) brunch, un des rares lieux ouverts le matin à côté du Rivington.

It was a cool restaurant literally down a dark back alley that has a really stellar atmosphere of turn of the century and industrial style. The food is really tasty american comfort food, and the cocktails are vintage twists. It get's hopping after about 8, so get there early. Tip: if it's Fri/Sat sit at the bar b/c Frank makes awesome cocktails.
