One of the most iconic buildings in New York City, the Empire State Building allows for expansive views of the city from its observation deck.

Yes, it is rather touristy, but visiting the Empire State Building is a must (including for locals that me that tend to avoid touristy things). A well-known fixture in the NYC skyline, the views from the top on a clear day are amazing. The elevators will take you to the 86th-floor observatory deck where you can go outside and experience a 360-degree aerial view of Manhattan. Starting in the late 1970s, color lighting was introduced to the Empire State Building, and since then the tower lighting changes daily to celebrate certain holidays or events.

Wasnt' too keen to begin with but the audio tour at the top is the tops! The historical dialogue on the city from the roof top view put everything into perspective, called out landmarks and identified interesting facts

The view at night from the 102nd floor is nothing short of spectacular. Go after dinner and you will have no lines. Not to be missed.
