The Catacombs are a series of tunnels built below Paris which are partly made up of the bones of dead bodies. Pre-catacomb times the Parisian graveyards became so over crowded that they had to find an alternative habitat for Uncle Pierre and Aunt Edith. Thus the tunnels were built and lined with the skulls and ribs of Parisan ancestors. During world war two the french resistance used the tunnels to carry out their covert operations against the Nazis. Go on a week day when its quiet to feel the full ambiance and imagine running along the passages in a trench coat and a beret, on your way to quosh enemy advances!
