The country´s most celebrated church. Work began in 1344 on the orders of Charles IV and finished in 1929 . The Cathedral is a gothic masterpiece with lots of highlights, including the chapel of St. Wenceslas encrusted with more than 1300 stones of jasper and amethyst set into the walls and the painted window” Allegory of the Slavs” created by art deco painter Alfons Mucha. A stairway leads down to the Royal crypt, which contains tombs of some of the most famous Bohemian Kings. The cathedral houses the crown jewels. It opens daily 9:00AM - 5:00PM.
