This place is on everyone's must go list for a very good reason. Go! You will be rewarded. The villa is magnificent, the Bernini's will tug your heart and the Caravaggio's will stab your soul. You have to be dead not to be amazed by this place!

BE SURE to book tickets ONLINE in advance (several weeks before is best). We didn t do this in time and so couldn't get in to see it.....

One of the city's most exquisite art collections featuring works by Bernini, Raphael and Caravaggio in addition to both classical and neo-classical sculptures like the Venus Victrix by Canova. If you only have time to visit one museum in Rome, make sure it's this one!

Go up the hill to the Villa Borghese park and get away from the crowds. Wide open spaces, great views overlooking the city and a really cool, picture-perfect lake with its own Roman temple. You can save a thousand steps by ducking into the Spanish Steps metro station up the street from the hotel, go inside, but instead of buying a ticket and entreating the subway, take the looooong escalators up you pop right out on top in the park.
